UND Fatal

Ahhh...yeah I don't know about that. I don't know about it being IMPOSSIBLE to get past 2 DUI's, but that's an uphill battle.
I think I’ve mentioned this here before but it’s aprapos;

I worked at a major aircraft manufacturer with a pilot the got earned a DUI…never reported it to the FFA or the Company. He would have been Scott-free if he hadn’t earned another one!

He was in a court-order diversion agreement over the first offense that allowed him to complete the program and erase it from his record. Because he violated the agreement, he was charged with TWO DUI offenses at the same time.

NOW he told the Company and the Feds and got his med pulled. Instead of dropping him like a used..bad habit, the Company kept him on payroll and put him in the management position of very impactful program funded by the FFA!

He did that for a few years and wanted to go back to flying. Headed to the Southern West Coast where he landed a job with a big 135 operator. I don’t know for sure but pretty confident he didn’t reveal his past to them because he flew with them for a few years.

Now he’s flying for a Houston based company that supplies software to the masses of GA pilots! This guy could dive into to swimming pool full of feces and float to the top smelling like a rose!

Moral of the story: there’s a way to work through even seemingly bad situations…. Don’t go kill yourself; look at the options around you!!

What exactly qualifies you to make that judgment?

There's a good book which touches on this, with copious amount of modern research.

Haven't you heard? Big pharma is the answer to everything. Take this pill. Take this vaccine. It will cure what ails you.

1 in 20 US kids with ADHD. Only in the US though.

I completely agree that big pharma deserves our distrust, scrutiny and much better oversight (see opioid crisis, over prescription of Ritalin, Adderall). However we as a society need to take accountability for the fact that we tolerate a crappy medical system that only gives doctors 30 seconds with a patient and incentivizes treating the symptom not the cause, as well as hold accountable parents that are too quick to put their hyperactive and distractable children on amphetamines vs working through the other less severe options first.

All that being said, you are absolutely 100% wrong to draw a correlation between any of that and use it to support your anti-vax agenda. We can simultaneously hold the pharmaceutical industry accountable through oversight while also taking full advantage of their ability to engineer and mass produce vaccines to save our lives during A GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

These two ideas are not mutually exclusive.

I recall a friend of mine, who also worked in a fairly stressful aviation position, telling me that he had been prescribed some sort of medication that was legal per the FAA. He suggested I might look into it to reduce my stress, he said he’d just walk into work and not really stress about anything and it was great. Hard no, I still can’t fathom not caring about my work.

Stressing out about work /= caring about work.

Lots of different sources—no lack of data to show how medicated kids are.

Claiming that lots of kids are medicated is one claim. Claiming that they are over-medicated is quite another, and one you aren’t qualified to make.

Hari is a blog writer, not a neuroscientist, and actual neuroscientists have criticized his book.

Johann Hari is a complete cretin

In 2011, Hari was suspended and then resigned from The Independent after admitting to plagiarism, and making pejorative edits to the Wikipedia pages about journalists who had criticised his conduct.

I try not to judge people by things they did a long time ago. But yeah, there is that in his history, too.

Lots of different sources—no lack of data to show how medicated kids are. I’m fortunate…my mom pulled me from preschool when the teacher wanted me put on Ritalin. Preschool. ADHD is definitely a real thing but incredibly over diagnosed. Prescriptions for Ritalin and other ADHD drugs double in a decade

Teachers can prescribe medications now. Or rather back then? Interesting!

I was prescribed that once. It was called F*k-it All. It works like a charm.

One DUI without any aggravating factors and not an extreme DUI, is survivable for 121. We’ve even had one member here in that same boat from over a decade and a half ago, who got past it and made it to 121. Once one starts getting into aggravated/extreme DUI, and multiple DUIs, that starts showing a trend to a potential employer, that is not a trend of correction; or one of a one-time dumb act. And that’s what will get these guys from making it to many companies…..aside from the second tier chitbag operations that hire misfits, knowing they have nowhere else to go.

As it should. Nearly anyone here could reasonably find themselves with a DUI, myself included. To go back and do it again is something entirely different.
