Im getting a Fam(familiarization) flight in the jumpseat of a CRJ in the next week or two, im doing the Jax overnight... should i take pics or movie? I would do a Fam flight in a J-41 but i would have to sit on the FO's lap

maybe i should just wait and do the fam in our new 320's!!!!!!!

Independence Air is coming....hide all the women and children

When I jumpsat in the A340 the best parts was the sandwiches before take off, and joking around with the crew. I thought the whole airline cockpit thing was over-rated!

I brought a video camera on my familiarization ride. The crew loved it!

They didn't even complain when they ended up on the Mesa Pilots website. (Ahem!)

It's probably already too hot to jumpseat in a J41, but if you want to fly a real airplane come to CVG and go for a spin in the DoJet!

Take only pictures, leave only footprints.

DaveTheFlyer are you an ACA pilot?

Crash, i really hope you can get those jumpseat hours....they have become really strict on it, but hey i hope you get it, you have any problems let me know and ill talk to some people in HDQ for you.....whens your interview?

Enjoy the internship. My internship (Continental) was the time of my life ... I had a blast!

Plus, I set what was then a record for most jumpseat rides in one semester by an intern with 69 (I swear that's just a coincidence!). I heard somebody later broke my record. But I had fun doing it. Jumpseated a lot of airplanes that have long since been retired, too. My list:

B-727
B-737 (100/200/300/500/700)
B-757
DC-9
DC-10
MD-80
ATR-42

I missed the first B-777 and B-737-800 deliveries by like two months ... I was bummed!!

my friend is doing an internship with continental in houston, and my old flight instructor did one in newark. hopefully i will get some jumpseat time and go home to NY a couple of times. Even plannin to visit some relatives in florida.

ATA victim, how are they getting tight on jumpseat time. is it ACA or the TSA. do they still let you go on united and delta flights?

Company policy is restricting employee's from jumpseating....i dont think its that big of a deal, just go through the dispatcher,CA and the chief pilot and your good to go... I work in scheduling so I fly free on Delta and United, but ramp agents and other employee's that just work at UAX in domicile only recieve UAL privilages i think same goes for the Delta boys in CVG and BOS.....i wonder what airlines will sign a station agreement with us when we go Independence, I still believe were still gonna do Delta but were gonna DEF drop UAL...

They(UAL) say that they cant pay us updated rates for our service but how could they launch TED and afford to re do their livery?

I did the ACA internship back in 2000. Had an absolute blast. Jumpseated every weekend. Back then it was easy, no hoops no nothing. Just show up and ride. Then again, back in those days employees didn't go through security to get to work, we passed through a card-swipe gate that led out right onto the ramp...

Those are still around, at least in SLC. If I had to go through security each day for work I would quit or slit my wrists, maybe both.

Jumpseating wasn't quite as lax for me. I just completed my internship in December and we were only allowed to jump on training flights or test flights. Jumping on a training flight is highly recommended. The whole experience is quite surreal.

We flew to Santa Barbara from SLC, checked into the hotel around 5pm, met up for some dinner around 6. I walked around town for a while until 10 or 11pm at which time myself, the 2 new hires, and the captain went back to the airport. Walk out onto the ramp to a CRJ glistening in the moonlight

just waiting to be played with. The captain whips a phone out and calls for a few thousand pounds of fuel, do a walk around, hop in and proceed to practice landings until 3 in the morning. Like I said, very surreal. We woke up the next morning, hit the IHOP and flew back to SLC. Probably the single coolest thing I've done in aviation.

You mean I can't log all those hours I spent riding around in ATR jumpseats on ferry flights?!

(again, kidding)

Dave...Thats coolm i have yet to sit the Delta Desk yet..only IAD pilots and ORD pilots.......maybe i'll check into your schedule and get someone to release you when you want to be released....how do you like ready reserves?
