Did anyone watch this the other night on T.V. I think it was on History Channel or something? It was about reports of UFOs from airline pilots and military pilots. Some as recent as 2003. It was pretty interesting. They had the accual recordings of the pilots talking to ATC. You could hear anxiety in their voices. Some reported them as large as an aircraft carrier and some within 50 feet of the aircraft. Feel free to throw this in the lav if you want.

Don't over tell the FAA you saw a UFO. They will call you insane and revoke your licenses haha

Thats what I was saying when I was watching it. Im not really a believer 100% but I thought it was interesting that someone would feel it was that important to report knowing they could potentially lose their job among other things. One was an AW flight from MCO to LAS and reported it over AZ. The captain was freaking out on ATC because they didnt have it on radar but eventually picked something up. "This ******* thing is huge, you mean to tell me you guys arent picking this up". They were above it looking down on it about 1000 feet below, he reported it as having counter clockwise lights and the size of an aircraft carrier.

I never heard of anyone "losing their job" or even their medical over any of this stuff. That's hype to make people believe that the stories "must be true". In truth, there are a lot of people flying airplanes that jump to conclusions when they see something that doesn't add up, without looking further into what they might ACTUALLY be seeing, and the effects of scale and other optical illusion issues. What makes anyone think airline or military pilots are immune to that?

I have seen things that, at first, could have been described as many of these supposed "sightings", but further analysis proved that it was an optical illusion. I strongly doubt the veracity of ANY of these sightings, or at least that they aren't seeing something of human invention!

See Zanthar! I told you the earthlings were inferior life forms. How stupid do they have to be to fall for the ol' optical illusion trick! It's the oldest trick in the Galaxy.

Our plan is working perfectly!!! MuuaaaHaHahahahahahahahaha!

The show has been on several times over the past few years, I'm sure you'll get a chance to see it again. I've seen it a couple of times and still find it fascinating in spots.

The FAA and airlines don't particularly like pilots who see things that aren't there (even if they are). Something to do with your mental stability....

Friend of mine (US Air Capt) had similar experience back in the late 90's flying east from LA one night. Both he and his co-pilot were persona non grata for a while. Said he learned his lesson well. He's got two years until retirement, maybe he'll talk about then.

Let's see, I have now been in this business for over 30 years, and I have YET to hear of ANYONE losing their job or being looked at by the FAA for anything like this!

This is like TWA 800 and 9/11, people want to believe in conspiracies. Sorry, there are NONE! You can take that statement to be applicable to a few facets of this thread, and that is good because it applies to ALL of them!

If and I mean IF UFO's are real I dont think I could really blame the world's governments for covering up the fact that they do exist and have visited on numerous occasions. Really though, think about the impact something like this would have on everything scientific and most of all, religion. It would cause complete world chaos.

Unlikely, it would be a big event, but not "complete world chaos". I think that is another myth spread by those that want to make it appear that it is something that it isn't.

I use to see lots of UFO's in my former gig. When we'd start feeling anxious about that, we'd just blow up the Death Star for fun. :)

I saw something when I was a kid. Still can't explain it. It started as a bright red star-like light in the night sky. It started moving after a while and developed some kind of red "tail". It kind of randomly wandered around above us. All of this took place over the course of about 5-10 minutes. Eventually the tail disappeared and we lost track of the...thing.

I've seen something similar (at least based on your description) just about a month ago while stopped at a traffic light. It only lasted about a minute though.

These could all be optical illusions like someone said above. But considering the size of the universe, it is pretty ridiculous to assume that nothing is out there and that maybe one of the species out there have advanced enough to pay us a visit.

Just curious--where did this happen? Any fighter bases nearby? And by any chance, was this within an hour or so of sunset? If so, it COULD have been some high-altitude maneuvering by a fighter. Since it was well above the horizon, it could have been reflecting the "sunset glow" to the west of it, and the "tail" could be contrails.

Just a theory. That and four bucks will buy you a coffee at Starbucks.
