UAS Operators

What is AAI?
I've heard of General Atomics and am interested in this whole thing...
how "real" is the flying? I mean, from your command center or whatever it's called, is it really like flying an actual airplane, minus the view out the window?

Not very real. Gets to be a bit of a drag after awhile doing it. Like anything else though.

I have to:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=aai
first two links.

Go to indeed.com search for UAS Pilot, or CFII also brings up jobs in that spectrum.
Go to AUVSI.org and use the career function. Also, if you join, they list the companies that donate to AUVSI and I can basically guarantee that at least half are hiring in one way or another.

Pestering and networking are your keys.

I just landed the job with AAI ! Thanks to all who helped give me the edge in the job search. Big thanks to:

and the lurkers in real life that helped as well. Also, AAI is doing a lot of hiring this year if anyone is interested.

Congrats! Did you get the Shadow UAS position? Aside from applying online through their website what other paths did you take? It appears you had some help with getting your resume taken in? What was the interview like?

I definitely have always been interested in these positions for many of the same reasons you listed, primarily that UAVs are only going to get bigger. I applied back when I was down around 250TT but didn't get any bites and didn't have any connections. I think I'm a little more qualified now with nearly 1,000TT and some good experience. Maybe it's time to look into this more for myself.

Congrats again!

Proud Pilot,

I know its been awhile since you have been on this form, but could you let me know how it's been AAI? I have applied to three UAV operators and AAI is one of them. I would love to get som "insiders info." Thanks for your help, this side of aviation is very intriguing.
