There were rumors of this but nothing concrete. You have the bean counters on one hand and the folks that think control over the minions is another. My experience here is the minions pretty much don't need much direction. The contract says boo and that's what needs to happen. Leave us alone and very little management input is necessary. Unfortunately, UPS has always been a management heavy company. It would take a lot of bean counter influence to overrule that. Hopefully, some day we will get there.

It is just crazy..... If anything concrete ever came of them hiring the outside firm to do the cost analysis and they indeed said such and refused that just shows you the stupidity of a management team.... One would have to assume sooner or later if that was indeed true there should be some stock holders pushing the issue of such.... But I guess in the reality then 350K mgt pilot is just a small price of a company with the profits of UPS.....

You have MUCH to learn about UPS. They are OWNED by their managers and managed by their OWNERS. IOW, the SAME people.

At the company you currently work for, during the transition from props to jets, they brought in an outside consultant who said they had to make 30 changes to the way they operated or the entire operation would fall apart in 9 months. They made 1 change. 6 months later the operation fell apart and the holding company that owns the company hired the same consultant (who they didn't know had been hired by the company 6 months prior) to come in and "fix" the operation. Needless to say they were very impressed at how quickly he came up with 29 changes that had to be made.

Well no where did I ever say I knew anything about UPS. As far as I'm concern there are only two pilots on this forum that have first hand knowledge of UPS and that's it. So for anyone other then them, myself included, to say other wise would be foolish. However the basic math of the rumored 350k salary with over 100 check pilots hired over the last few years would amount to over 35 million annually. Even if most of the stock is owned by upper management types that is a good chunk of change. I also realize the culture there towards their pilots as I've had many UPS jumpseaters on flights over the years in and out of SDF....... Including many of the junior furloughed pilots who have been recalled recently and a few of these recent mgt check pilots......

Ps... Yes I realize that 90% is owned by employees and 10% is publicly traded stock...
 
Yeah, I wasn't really sure what the percentages were myself. When you say it's 90% owned by "employees", though, I'd rather say it's 90% owned by "management". Employees do get a slight discount on buying stock. But it's management that gets stock as part of their compensation package. Regular employees don't, as far as I know, and for sure the pilot group doesn't.
 
LOL!! Everytime I layover In Yuma I think of Nick Papagereo from Vegas Vacation! Autothrust, maybe I will see you in Yuma as I will be once again be overnighting ( this week as well) at the less than desirable hotel we stay at while there, Yuma is the only place I have been spending the night this whole month too.

The problem is your jokes and sarcasm is mostly lukewarm and that doesn't win you any spotlight. You're tepid, you're banal and sometimes polite. You have to put up your A game every day on the board and that means getting yourself on a few ignore lists, posting up a boob shot every once in a while, maybe you can post up some fake files (sorry I missed all that, its oyster season and there were fires to build, beers to drink, and shucking to do).
