UAL and CAL Jumpseat alliance

Don't ever do any favors for UAL pilots they are the first group to stick a shank in your back when they get the chance. At skywest we took all their furloughs and when it came to time to hire at UAL they only took a few of our guys, we'll remember that ual.

Then again, maybe that's a blessing in disguise since anyone they DID hire would be on the street right now. We had a guy go there. He's back here as the bottom FO. Granted, he IS an assistant chief pilot, though.

UAL has a real winner for a new MEC chair too.

Is that sarcasm? What's wrong with Captain Morse? Granted, I'm definitely more in line philosophically with Captain Wallach, but Wendy is top-notch and knows her stuff.

matt do not worry. your jumpseat chair and i are going to burn someones house down if things dont change.

Follow proper protocols. Give them a chance to fix things before you go nuclear. Jumpseat wars are not good.

You know, is this thing even real? Sherpa, did you get this from an official source?

It's real. Confirmed it through Seggy.

A generalization to be sure. I have had some UAL peeps, in the form of pilots, FAs, and gate agents really help me out lately. While there are certainly some bad apples out there, it isn't fair to generalize like that. We have the same types here at SkyW too you know.

And who knows, maybe UAL did everyone a favor who didn't get hired. Every SkyW guy I know that went is either on the street or is about to be :(

Back on topic...

Our JS chair has some great ideas cooking and has been in contact with several other CAL/UAL express JS chairs. I won't add much, but it isn't a jumpseat war just some logical and smart thinking going on to come to a mutual agreement :)

Two words: Captain's authority.

Exactly my thoughts. If theres one of our pilots waiting to get on, he's getting on. Don't matter what some agreement says to me. Everyones welcome to the jump, but your own airline takes priority.

I've never had problems jumpseating on UAL in the 3 years I've been commuting. All have been very nice guys to me.

I feel a little less confused now because a CAL pilot took a United mainline guy ahead of me a couple weeks ago even though I checked in way before him. He cited this policy and, at the time, I thought it was baloney.

Ask national for CAL's specific jumpseat policy.

At Southernjets, you could have signed up for the jumpseat back in 1492 but if a person with a higher priority signs up for it, well, it's going to the higher priority pilot.

Like a Air Durkistan pilot could sign up for a LGA-JFK leg 90 minutes prior, but if a CAL guy shows 20 minutes prior to push, he's going to get the jumpseat.

How long is that LGA-JFK flight? It sounds like a long leg!!;)

Approximately 32 seconds.

However, throw in a dog farting in Queens, a thunderstorm over Allentown, and Jersey being, well, Jersey.

Now you're looking at 3+30 or so, after the EDCT.

:yup:

Yes, I've done the TEB-HPN flight and always blocked at least 0+45 (in the 60) even on clear days. I am so glad I do not have to deal with NY airspace other than the delays I get when riding in the back!! So much nicer!
