Good video by Ron Rogers, who does a number of good USAF and civil aviation videos, on a first hand account of the UAL 1985 strike. First of all few upcoming videos on it The first year pay discussion is interesting.

JCs own @A Life Aloft walked and held the line on this strike, and has many great stories about what he experienced during it, in his 30+ year career at UAL.

I miss Gerry🍸🌹 He made a huge difference well-beyond the airline industry - to veterans, to strangers … to me.

Same. Hope he's doing alright.

Unfortunately, Gerry has gone 7600 here since one year ago this month, and I unfortunately do not have contact info for his wife Sue. I am planning a visit to his veterans ranch in Riverside to follow up.

Gerry had the best old school airline stories, and his stories of the CAL and UAL strikes, his first hand accounts on the latter, as well as all his stories about his home state California, were very interesting.

Given his health issues, I suspect the worst. No contact info for his wife here, either. Share as you feel appropriate and able once you know, please, Mike.

He touched the lives of strangers 3K miles away. I know what he did because I put him in touch with people in need. He mattered to people he would never meet.

We interacted often electronically. I always hoped to go to the ranch someday and meet him.

Gerry is/was someone who made a difference way the hell outside the confines of JetCareers.

I miss his voice and participation.

$1,100 / month in 1985 works out to $39,200 / year in today-money. 😳
Almost $4000 more a month than I made first year at USAir in 2013!

And that was a flat salary! No overs.

Thanks USAPA for keeping us on LOA93 for almost a decade.

Also, the part at the end of calling reservations is a smart self help technique. He was a test dude, so I dont doubt his smarts
