Hello everyone, My names Justin this is my first post so bear with me, im pretty green :D. I've been lurking for a little while now doing alot of research on schools and programs. Im 22 and have 1yr and a half of general ed done, so im looking to transfer into a 4yr university. Basically what i want is to do something with Wildlife biology/Natural Resources aviation. I have no desire to fly airliners, well not yet anyway. Because of the degree i want i felt U of MN Crookston's natural resource aviation program offers pretty much everything i want. I know UMC's aviation program is a branch off of UND which was another school i was lookng into but from what i've read UND isn't geared toward what i want. Just wondering if anyone has attended UMC or any other opinions toward the school or Nat. Res. Aviation. Thanks guys!! _ Justin

Nothing guys? Figured there might be atleast one guy who knows someting about it. Anyway i went up and talked with Mike Vivion their Chief Aviation instructor and advisors on wed. Im excited to start in the fall to say the least. Although it will be funny being the 23yr old sophmore in class.

I went to UMC for one semester. Academically I liked the school and the flight department. Its pretty small and close knit. However I did not much enjoy living in a place that makes Grand Forks look like a metropolis. Most of the people who attended the school were from nearby farming communities and were absolutely thrilled to be out in their own. I had just moved there from one of the biggest/busiest cities in the world (Tokyo) so to say I had a bit of culture shock would be an understatement.

good program over there and Mike is a very knowledgible guy. PM me if you would like more details.

Thanks for replying guys!!! I hear you Emu, Crookston isn't much with a pop. of 8000. Lucky for me i grew up in rural Mn but i could imagine that the culture shock would be extremely difficult coming from a city like tokyo.

There are lots of Koreans at U MN CKN... not sure about others, but probably more culturally diverse than UND campus.
