Type Rating Question

My mind is a little mushy from some long days, but I have a question regarding 61.58 and 61.56.

I received my first type rating this week. With it I get a card stating that I have completed a part 142 curriculum including the Proficiency Check required by 14 CFR 61.58 to continue to serve as PIC in the XXXX.

So my questions are these, with the following information:

Training for the type rating was preformed in a level D simulator

- does the new type rating serve as a BFR, where I will not need one for 2 years?
- should I log the approaches preformed in the sim to reflect instrument currency, if so how would you recommend logging it?

(d) A person who has, within the period specified in paragraph (c) of this section, passed a pilot proficiency check conducted by an examiner, an approved pilot check airman, or a U.S. Armed Force, for a pilot certificate, rating, or operating privilege need not accomplish the flight review required by this section.

The approaches should be logged as approaches in your logbook. Do not count the simulated instrument time with aircraft simulated instrument. Instead you should have another way track simulator simulated instrument.
 
Since it's a new rating it does serve as a renewal on your 2 years. Most definitely in a level D you can log those approaches. Log instrument approaches as you normally would, as far as being an instrument approach the type of approach and where it was done at.

I have also heard you can log landings in a Level D simulator.

I do not log my landings in the sim, but I know people that do.
