Type rated PIC without HP endorsement?

I thought that was because most new hires at regional airlines are not acting as PIC.
 
It's kind of absurd that passing what amounts to an ATP checkride (type ride) would not qualify as a HP endorsement. But the FAA is known to be absurd at times.

You are legally allowed to fly that airplane now, regardless if whether you've had an hp endorsement. Same goes for complex, high altitude, etc. That's why regional airlines don't have to give out high altitude endorsements for every newhire.

HA endorsement has a different verbiage. PIC training under 121/125/135 or in the military fulfills the HA endorsement requirement.

Dang it. For some reason, a few years back, I confused this rule into meaning I needed HP and HA endorsements to SIC a Citation Excel and CJ3.... oh well, I guess it can't hurt.

What was involved with the HP training? It can be picked up easily in a Cessna 182.

Even the PICs don't get HA endorsements. <checks logbook> Nope. No endorsement, but I DO have this shiny CL-65 type rating. If the FAA suddenly decides that it's illegal to fly an aircraft in the flight levels without a HA endorsement, there's gonna be a LOT of grounded airplanes.

When I did HP endorsements, it was a little bit of ground to discuss the differences and power management (don't want you student shock cooling an engine, ya know) and maybe an hour of flight.

I guess it's not required for the 121 guys:

FAR 61.31(g) Additional training required for operating pressurized aircraft capable of operating at high altitudes.

(1) Except as provided in paragraph (g)(3) of this section...

(g)(3) The training and endorsement required by paragraphs (g)(1) and (g)(2) of this section are not required if that person can document satisfactory accomplishment of any of the following in a pressurized aircraft, or in a flight simulator or flight training device that is representative of a pressurized aircraft:
...
(iv) Completing a pilot-in-command proficiency check under part 121, 125, or 135 of this chapter conducted by the Administrator or by an approved pilot check airman.
