Just getting word that Civil Air Patrol ground teams in California have located two survivors in the wreckage of an aircraft in Joshua Tree National Park. The aircraft was reported missing earlier today. The survivors are not yet out of danger at this point, rescue efforts are being coordinated as I type this.

And to think, the weather was so nice today in Socal.

At one point the winds at 6000' were 51kts, same as the freezing level... Nutty stuff. I hope they turn out ok.

I was thinking the same thing. Why would you put yourself in a situation like that.

The owner of Roy Williams Airport, Park Richardson, tells KPSP that the two men in the plane were flight instructor Wayne Henry of Twentynine Palms and his student Rocky Harvey of Joshua Tree.
