Have you seen Eos Airlines? www.eosairlines.com

They are running 757's to Stansted airport near London out of JFK. They are beginning business in a week! The cabin suites look amazing. Of course they are running $3500 One way! But if you book now it is only $2500.

They say they are hiring pilots so I emailed them to see what the minimum flight experience was. They didn't respond more than saying if I wanted to submit a resume I could. It looks like they are looking for Captains anyway.

I wonder if we'll get a jumpseat agreement with them????

Oh, and then there is Maxjet Airlines. They are running 767's over the pond with all business class too. The two seem to hitting slightly different market segments. www.maxjet.net

From the times online: "Eos Airlines’ first eastbound flight will leave JFK at 7:05 p.m. on October 18 and arrive in Stansted at 7:30 am the next morning. The first westbound flight leaves Stansted at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in JFK at 1:29 p.m. Eos is pitching its service at the upper end of the premium market. The service offers just 48 fully flat seats with 78-inch pitch, cashmere blankets, Tempur-Pedic® pillows, real china crockery, a personal DVD player and aisle access for all window seats.

Maxjet, meanwhile, has converted a Boeing 757 planes to carry 102 seats, with a 60-inch seat pitch, free drinks and food and portable entertainment consoles."

Nice, a High Cost Carrier? I think it has been done before but no one has really found the right ingredients yet. I guess instead of splitting the plane up into different classes, they will just split up the airlines into different classes. Sorta the Anti-Southwest airline. I like that!

I think there are actually two low cost carriers. The rest are simply "low fare" carriers irrespective of their actual cost structures!

The trick will be whether or not these guys can be like Apple and get people to pay a premium for what is a commodity product.

If they can, they're gonna be making a lot of money!

I'll bet they make a lot of money....all of those business passengers who don't like first class any more (it's just not what it used to be)....they'll be flocking...

But the problem is that corporations no longer fly their mid-level executives business or first class because they are controlling costs. That used to be where a high percentage of the business came from, more so than rich people flying for pleasure. Maybe they have discovered a business model that will work, but I wouldn't invest my dollars into it.

I agree...more often than not, people confuse Low Cost carriers and Low Fare carriers..the 2 are different! ha
