TSA to beef up employee screening

You know, the European screeners have one ability the TSA screeners don't.

They can speak English.

...Not in a 1 quart Ziploc bag = Dangerous, explosive material that can bring down an airliner.

Move contains into said 1 quart Ziploc bag = Dangerous properties removed and items are perfect safe.

As a screener this puzzles the hell out of me. 3.4 oz is the limit. Somebody calls a bagcheck and I have the check the size of the stuff. Everything is 3.4 oz. and less, but guess what it's not in a zip lock bag. So then I ask, what's the point of putting it into a zip lock bag is it less than the "danger limit"? My employeer once told the public that nothing less than 3.4 oz can cause problems. God I love being a TSA screener :sarcasm:

The most refreshing thing about going through security in a foreign country for me is that the TSA rudeness and classless yelling does not exist.

BELTS OFF, SHOES, OFF, METAL IN THE BINS, COINS OUT! BOARDING PASSES IN YOUR HAND!

Why do they yell at the customers?

Why??

It's called power tripping. Some people actually think that being a TSO we have some kind of power. Me.....I think otherwise.

You're absolutely right. Why should Joe Schmo be allowed to take their unopened water through security when they can buy the same thing for 3x the price on the other side. Makes perfect sense to me. ;)

But hey, I'm obviously not in tune with the security of the Nation.

Well, that is a totally separate argument, in the meantime we all know what the rules & to argue with people that are simply doing their job 8 simply, silly.

Oh, I hear ya. I wasn't criticizing you....just pointing out the absurdity that is TSA. :panic:

Cool!

But, the liquid ban was something started by the Brits due to the terrorist activity on their side of the ocean.....

Also, I get little discouraged when I hear people criticize (not you) the TSA for going after old ladies & babies, well, if the TSA after went after people that were a legitimate threat, the ACLU would have a field day & call that racial profiling...

If all they did was pull aside "middle eastern looking men" then yeah, they should get sued.

Why?

Because it's stupid and it won't work.

You think if al Qaeda sees all "middle eastern looking men" are being pulled out for extra screening, they won't say, fine, let's use a Dutch woman. Or a green eye Pakistani? Or a Malaysian or an Indonesian?

Besides, why bother to try the airplane trick when it won't work? If they really want to blow up a plane, the cargo is going in there unscreened.

Sure, it might make the ignorant among us feel safer but guess what? It won't make us any safer.

As for the liquids ban, if the TSA had gotten its stuff together, then we wouldn't have to worry about it. There have been companies large and small BEGGING the TSA to certify their explosive detection systems since September 12, 2001. And the TSA won't get their heads out of their asses long enough to do it.

Of course, there is the fact that they did the liquids explosive trick in the late 1990s and killed a Japanese businessman on a flight, but we flew with our liquids and gels for ten years before someone decided, we better scare everyone again and put the liquids ban in place.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why bother to smuggle explosives into the cabin when you can just put them in the unscreened cargo below?
