Hey all, Im going for a Interview with TSA soon and I was wondering if some of you could clear up some things.

1.How hard is it to find a crashpad
2. If I get hired I'll be commuting out of MCO..direct flights...but how hard is it?
3.Will I need to drive my car up or does STL have good public transit?
4.any and all info i appreciate!

Seriously, crewcommute.com only shows two crashpads at the moment, but there are probably more. STL has a pretty good rail line that goes right to the airport.
 
crashpads.com is pretty good too, but i think you have to pay 14 bucks to see ALL the listings.....
 
STL seems to have pretty good transportation as long as you live near the metrolink (train/trolly thing) line. It seems to run across most of the city, so you may have some options. I'm not based there so you may get more info from someone that is. Good luck.
 
STL doesn't have good public transit. If you live right next to a metro station, its allright but other than that, fuggedaboutit. The hotel van should be able to get you to and from the training building allright. Plus, there will be guys that have cars that you can make friends with.


As far as commuting goes, we don't have a commuter clause and the lines are not commutable. However, Prefbid is rumored to be up and running by the end of the 21st century so things might get better. I think WN might have a few direct flights per day MCO-STL so the commute would not be that bad.

So, as far as working for TSA goes. Do you think it would be silly for me because of the commute? When you say prefbid..does that mean you can't bid on what you want for a schedule? Also what do you mean about a commuter clause...Im new to all this airline lingo. Coming from a king air .

crashpads are easy to find out there, you can also try pilotprojects.com i think it is, they had a nice place from what others have told me. There's a tsa pilot i think robb carolan that has a nice crashpad too

Commute??? If you want to commute, I'll tell you a GREAT place to commute to---ORL to SJC. Thats right: Orlando to Sun Jet Center!!!!! THE BEST FBO IN FLORIDA :rawk:

I don't think its sill to commute at all. If you don't want to live in STL or RIC, then its your only option. I will be commuting when I move back to ATL this October and I know its not going to be that bad because of all the direct flights that go there per day. People complain about STL all the time but the town is not that bad. People that say STL is ghettoed out has never seen a real ghetto. There are some rough areas but nothing that bad.


Prefbid is software that allows you to more effectively bid on your schedule. It would cut down on the amount of paper being wasted on bid packets etc. It would save us a lot of time. A commuter clause is kind of like a get out of jail free card. We don't have one so I am just going by what my friends tell me. If you are a commuter, you must have documented one or flight flights to get work and one backup flight. If you still can't get to work, you are off the hook.
