trying to get married

Does anyone have any info on how flexible they are with classes if my class date happens to interfere with my wedding (which has been planned for over a year now)? Are you able to take a day or 2 off for it (like maybe the Friday before)? I am sure I am not the first person to run into this. Any info would be appreciated.

When is the wedding? I would try and not start OKC until after the wedding. That is my plan anyways. Think of how crazy things will get with planning right up until the actual date. That would be impossible to juggle both.

Do you have a OKC date yet? A wedding is something to be cherished and not rushed. It's HUGE for the soon-to-be wife, whether they would admit to it or not.

Talk to your rep when they call to give you a date. Let them know. They are willing to work with you as much as they can. After that it is up to your facility. If they agree to it then you are fine.

I'm in the same boat. I'm just going to see how it all pans out. The bride-to-be is really understanding and we're just gonna go with whatever happens.

I have heard they gave one guy a day. Poor guy left after class, arrived with little sleep, got married did, a little jig and was back on another redeye to OKC. I'm not certain, but he may have lived up in Alaska.

Your wedding is on a weekend right? Don't expect a honeymoon. Leave, get er' done, and fly back to the academy.:(

Good luck and congrats.

When I got my TOL for Sept 8th, I was told the date was pretty accurate give or take a few weeks. So, I had to postpone my wedding date (Oct 12). We changed everything to May 23rd thinking that would be plenty of time...wrong. Got an OKC date of April 7th. I will be at the academy for 6 weeks then I will fly home, do the chicken dance, and fly back for another six weeks. Not the most ideal situation, but we decided postponing the academy or the wedding again was not an option.
I will be visiting my facility (BOS) before I leave. While there, I will talk to the manager to see if I might be able to get the Friday before off, but if not, I will deal with it.

I am getting married on the 23rd of May also. At least you will have Monday off for Memorial Day!

My academy date is July 10. Wedding isn't until October 10 but I think that will be on the tail end of the class. It seems en-route for OTS runs close to 4 months. Right now we just plan on not changing any dates and just trying to work around it. It will suck but neither one of us want to postpone the wedding or the academy. It will already have been a year and almost 3 months since I applied until the time I actually start class.
