Trying to decide.

See, the instructors that look at intro flights as a waste of time annoy me. Those are the same people that also wonder why they never get any new students. I treated every intro flight as if it was a job interview to hire me as an instructor. I had to "sell" myself and the school. Ya know what? I had a string of 5 intro flights in a row that turned into students. One eventually became one of my best friends, even though he's no longer flying.

I didn't mind the intro flight. For me it was a game to see if I could teach the person to land right off the bat. I always told my students to get to the solo, see if they wanted to continue after that. It always broke my heart when someone would get the PPL and then never fly again.

Thanks to all the answers looks like I will get my Discovery when ever I can and when I go up to Gainesville ( sometime this year, Job Corps for me oh yay:sarcasm: ) Hopefully be able to save some of that money and get a job after and start for my priv.
Thats about my 2-3 year plan :):laff:

It's not a bad plan. Decent paying job + living with the parents = lots of money saved. I wish my parents were still paying my bills and buying food. :)

Well kinda sucks cause, Ill be moving out of my house this year, going up there living in a dorm for 25-50 dollars a month for a year or two.
Get an apartment and a job save up some cash for college and flight training....

All in all, I still will have my own bills to pay after JC....

Parents would not bring me to tampa would have to be in the Orlando metro area, but I will continue asking places...

About the Discovery flight, I have asked my mom about it and she still says no, she feels like its not a good career choice, I have tried to get someone from Avion to talk to her about it and she rejected to talk to him.

I just really wish I convince her that its what i want and to at least let me try.
I think its cause the danger but not sure, the reason I get is, its cause I said no....

Man I feel sorry for you. I all I ever wanted to be was a pilot, and my parents were behind me doing it. When it fell through and I said I was going to go to law school their only response was, "Cool, have fun!"

I'm glad they're not making my career choices for me, otherwise I'd probably be...actually I have no idea what I'd be, because they never gave me any input on the issue. I picked my college, my major, my minor, my career, yada yada.

My parents are the same way. They have always supported what I've wanted to do, and tell me they will support anything I want to do. I feel lucky, because I know not all parents are like that. I've wanted to be a pilot, since I can remember, and they have always been behind me.

My dad flat out told me if I dont work with computers I have no support from him what so ever, my mom told me she supports me in anything even if she does not like it.

She just does not think its a good career path, really in a twist for me and I wanted to get my ppl started asap get it done sooner.

That's a surefire way to turn someone right off of computers. Force them into it. Nevermind the fact that the job market has been eroded to a shadow of its former self thanks to outsourcing to cheaper labor markets in other countries.

Depending on what you're defining as a "good career path," she may have a valid point on the pilot profession. Just gotta find out what she uses to define it, and go from there. Might help if you broaden her horizons past just airliners, too. There are tons of pilot jobs out there that have nothing to do with hauling passengers. Honestly, if I were single, there's a good chance I'd be doing relief work in Africa right now.

Well my stepdad told me what he and my mom basically think ofbeing a pilot"

Unless you find some way to fly a rich guy around a few times a month its basically worthless.

Sounds like they got their pilot education from watching Travolta in "Look Who's Talking." Education on the actual profession is probably in order.

I guess il just wait till i can go to gainesville and go to the fbo up there, I will definitely be here asking questions then :laff:
