Trump administration sides with Boeing in Bombardier dispute

Is Delta the only airline allowed to do well on here?

No, but then I wouldn’t claim we were doing great if we were seriously lagging behind peer airlines in many metrics. I guess a rosy outlook may be needed by some though. YMMV.

What are these 'seriously lagging' metrics you speak of?

I just checked and our performance (D:0 and Mainline Completion) and it was very similar for October and November. You need to get it through your head that other airlines are doing great, besides Delta.

Take a look at debt ratio, market cap, return to investors, PRASM, RASM. You know, the financial health of an airline. Performance and completion factor don’t pay the bills.

You mean all the stuff you as a pilot have no control over? You're riding on the coattails of successful management, and you've executed THEIR vision, not your own.

United has decades of poor management that is being corrected right now. As for being a pilot there, it ain't so much different than any other airline, I imagine.

All I want to know is what's everyone getting for Christmas? :)

Why do you guys get so defensive, esp @ian ? It's just a forum and not everyone is going to agree. I see United and to a lesser degree AA get attacked here and people don't come running to its defense. I don't think it has to do with pride of working there, it's just most see this as a forum where people argue/discourse/vent/talk.

Seggy's kinda got a point here. It sounds kinda hypocritical when it comes to getting aircraft at deals and prices that otherwise wouldn't have existed, and for foreign airlines the Ex/Im bank loans is the same thing: getting airplanes which otherwise they wouldn't have gotten because the financial terms weren't right. Delta is free to get the CS series right now... they just have to pay 3x as much, instead of the 20 million/copy. And even that is apparently still cheaper than its list price. This is all politics well above our paygrade and nothing we say or do is going to change any of that.

Delta will be fine. So will United.
