Traveling Laptop

I didn't carry a laptop for an entire month and didn't miss it. I do have the low profile Bluetooth keyboard from apple.
 
The air still doesn't have a cd drive though, does it? If not, I would personally go with a 13" macbook or macbook pro, just for the drive. It really isn't that much bigger.

I think I've used my DVD drive once in the past 12 months.

Well then you likely would not need one ;)

I use it pretty often for Netflix and stuff, but, I am also not currently a layover-ing pilot, so maybe I wouldn't use it on layovers either, I don't know. I would think that it would make more sense to either go with the Ipad+keyboard like you have Dough, if you're going for the smallest/lightest possible, or the Mb/Mbp, if you're willing to carry a laptop around, because from what I've seen, the actual size difference between them and the Air is not that big.

Obviously, use whatever you want to use, but that's just my reasoning.
 
You don't have to take your ipad out of the bag for the TSA. Apparently this is true for the macbook air too. Any truth to this? If so this is the laptop I would buy.
 
Ultimately, I would go with the iPad + bluetooth keyboard as a primary device. Secondarily, I would have a macbook air for when I wanted to carry a laptop on the road.

And strangely, the only reason I carry a laptop is because the bidding software my airline uses hasn't discovered MacOS yet.

If someone created a PBS app for the iOS devices, they would be a millionaire overnight.

I'm sure I could nick each of you $100 for a fairly crappy app, having seen how crappy some of the internal webapps are (and let's not talk about EasyBid, nothing more than a scripted terminal session). The problem would be getting SouthenJets Technologah to talk to the backend.

Use other Mac, with Remote Disk. (You have more than one computer, right? ;) )

That sucks. Your company should embrace electronic distribution...
 
If you're the sort of person who uses a Mac, well, then you're the sort of person who uses a Mac. If not, I second the vote above for woot.com. Sometime in the next couple of weeks they're bound to have a laptop, and about 75% of the time it's an EXCELLENT deal.
