Transpac Aviation NOT CFI friendly anymore

Negative. Riverside flight center in Tulsa. Not as big as transpac, but still pretty big. That being said, they're starting people off at $30/hr now (a huge raise from when I worked there...lol) and you can easily credit 100 hours during good wx months...so yeah.

How long are good wx months and how low are bad wx months? Not familiar with Tulsa seasons.

It varies, but I'd say it's flyable 80 to 85 % of the time, so better than some places, worse than others. Winter generally see's more wx cancellations than summer. I actually delivered pizza's 3 nights per week when I worked there for a winter just to supplement my income a bit.

May13th update:

As expected, management realized they messed up and brought back the 6th day compensation at time and half.

Also, as pass rates sunk to low levels the $100 bonus for passing check ride on first try has also being reinstated. That one has a catch though.

Funny how the CEO thought he was being smart by making all these changes then putting things back the way they were, if I am not mistaken he is now on his way out.

Now, if they would only start buying foam cups again for the break room, that'd be great. I cant carry a water bottle and a coffee mug in my flight bag. But ofcourse they wouldnt understand this eitha

Also, a CFI who quit 8 months ago to go fly "jets" just came back to Transpac to instruct again with 1600 hours. He said the jets aren't that shiny and he missed teaching at Transpac.

Turns out he had gone to GoJet, first day of class they told him he didnt qualify for the bonus anymore, so he walked out. What'd he do after not flying for a while? He went back to instructing just to get back in the game. He was out for a while.. 8 months sounds about right.

Always baffles me to see instructors choose GoJet and Mesa

I've seen people leave decent paying 135 freight jobs for both of those places...Mesa is proabably the most baffling of the two though.
I really can't rap my head around it unless you have a bad record and need something to get your 121 career started. Otherwise it's a huge question mark

For the sake of updated information; Transpac is now paying for 6th days, time and a half, and reinstating their first time pass checkride bonus. I've also heard they're pretty well staffed and are going to slow down hiring the next few months.
