Transitions lenses in the tower?

I am using contacts with my sunglasses when the shades are up in the tower. But i am getting prescription glasses made for a backup. since i can't wear both sunglasses and prescription at the same time and i will have to have them on shades up or down depending on who is running the cab. Will transition lenses work? Any one know people who use them? My doc thinks they will not change behind the tower glass, But i think one of our old timers used to use them.

I use them & I'm pretty sure they need direct sunlight to work. Sometimes when I'm driving I have to take them off & hold them right by the window where the sun is shining in order for them to get dark. The temperature can also affect how effective they are. Most days they don't compair to regular sunglasses. I still like them though.

:yeahthat: I have a pair of Transitions lenses and they barely tint at all in a car driving into the sun ... kind of disappointing actually. In direct sunlight they kick ass!

Get Magic Clip Glasses

I highly recommend getting prescription Magic Clip glasses. They come with magnetically attaching tinted lenses (brown or gray). The sunglass lenses are in a frame that looks like your regular frame; this attaches right over and you can't tell that it's a clip on. They're not nerdy like old school clip-ons. Saves money in the long run, you don't have to buy new regular and sunglass lenses when your eyesight changes.

I have a pair and you can't tell they're not normal sunglasses. They're the best looking glasses I've ever had. I'm attaching a picture.

With the shades attached they look exactly the same only with brown lenses.
I LOVE MY GLASSES!!!

If I remember correctly, I got them at a regular mall store like a Lenscrafters or something of that sort. I've had them for at least 5 years, and they've help up well. They're very light weight, which is nice also.

Magic Clip Glasses

A friend of mine Transitions Lenses in high school, so this may have changed since 2003. But they drove me nuts to look at because they never turned totally clear inside. She said she wished she hadn't gotten them. On the other hand, I know someone with transitions sunglasses, that go from light sunglasses to darker ones. Those seem useful.

FASHION WARNING:
Make sure your new frames, next time you get them, fit in perfectly with the arch of your eyebrow to reduce the risky nerd/ugly factor inherent with being four-eyed!!!
Believe me I know...I have had some fugly glasses over the years. :(
