I have been reading/drooling over your posts about starting ATP for a while now and was wondering if you guys would help people like me and others out by continuing to post during your time at ATP when you get enough time?

I would like to hear more about the program and your views on it once you actually get there.

Any information about your experiences would be much appreciated from myself and others I'm sure.

Good luck!

Thanks, Tim

Tram:
forgot to ask, but did you take out a loan to cover the cost of the program? if so who did you go through?
thanks.

You bet....I will be taking a laptop with me during the training. I will time permitting send in updates. I know the feeling of just wanting to remove all fear and doubt. I don't have any doubt now...but a ton of fear

Sure! I'll keep you guys informed.. You guys can just send donations to my paypal account to help pay for my laptop!

I did get a loan.. I got it through ATP.. Call the ATP 800 number and ask to talk to Diane.. I got $45K in about 30 seconds and have 15 years to pay it back at 4.xx%... Can't beat that with a stick!

Sure! I will be doing the "whole nine yards" (PPL & ACPP) at ATP starting in May.

I too will be bringing a laptop for studying purposes. i.e. computer tests, dvds, etc.

So far currently in the instrument learning process for my IRA and CFII writtens...

Great guys! Looking forward to hearing your experiences there. I am also looking into doing the PP at ATP and just using it to get a bunch of PIC time.

I am also thinking a laptop would be great to have for my stay at ATP.

Just not too sure about this CRJ thing. I really don't understand why thye are doing this?

Tram: $45k seems like a bit much. what other expenses can this be used for? + if you still have money left when youre finished what do they do with it?

$45K at 4% is hard to beat.. So I went ahead and got the full alotted amount..

You've got $35K for the course..Then you have $2,500 for examiners fee's.. Then you need to be able to live off of something for 3 months.. So, your looking at ~$38K right off the top.. Then, there will be minor things you'll (or I did) wanted to pick up..

1.) Laptop (Dell Inspiron 5150 ~$1,500)
2.) New headset (David Clark H10-13X ~$600)

so now I'm looking at ~$41K then take what I need to live off of for 3 months... I'd say... ~$20 a day for meals.. (high estimate) that's $1,800.. Then what if you need something like.. Let's say you'll spend another $500 bucks over the 3 months on random stuff.. Maybe some 9 volts for your new H10-13X's..
smile.gif
Maybe a "cell phone USB" adapter to plug your cell into your new Dell 5150..
smile.gif

So now your looking at about $43K.. When your done with the course, the money is still yours... You can do as you please with it, from what I gather..

During the Career Pilot Program, I used some of my loan to fly Cessnas to keep current. The flare is quite different between PA 44's and 172's. I wanted to make sure whan it came time to do the ASEL Com and CFI add on I was still familiar.

Hey CC, you said you would be going in August in Phoenix, I was just wondering if you meant that's when you'll start the ACPP? I've got my interview in two weeks and that's the timeframe I'm looking at also...as long as I pass the interview.

On another note, that would be great Tram or anyone else that can let us know how things go. By the way, I am also going to take my laptop, the guy at Dell told me its no problem with the cable to link up with your cell phone. It's not high speed DSL, but at least its a connection to the outside world and JC.

Hey BP!

Yes, I have my start date Aug 2nd @ PHX. I will be doing my PPL @ JAX in May-June. This gives me the month July to study for any remaining writtens, break-in my PPL and do a couple local flights, and a 3-4 day drive from TPA to PHX.

I didn't have much of an ACPP interview with ATP since I am doing my PPL with them and they will evaluate performance while I am there.

Right now I have the month of April off to study for ACPP writtens and to quickly realize "there is nothing on day time TV but crap!"

Hey CC, that feeling of freedom must be a welcome relief!

hi everyone,
for those of you going to jax, are you taking a vehicle? if not how are you planning to get to and from the housing to the airport?
keep up the informative posts as to what you experience and are taking with you.
anyone know if pets are allowed? i know it may have been covered in a previous post but i would like any info possible.

If I remember correctly when I toured JAX the apartments are about 7-8 miles from Craig Airport.

I never lived in JAX before but I have lived in Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland, and St Pete and public transportation is unreliable and in most cases nonexistent compared to other metro areas in the country.

I will be bringing a car but if you do not have one ("Yes" there are people who live in places where a car is a disadvantage.) you might want to ask around and hitch a ride to and from Craig with other students/instructors.

I don't know about the pet policy but due to the "crash pad" accomodations the answer most likely will be "no".

Hope this helps...

Hi Tram, I'm planning to go to ATP but my main problem is financial. How easy is to get financial for ATP. How was your credit when you applied or did you used a cosigner??

Thanks...

My dad co-signed for me.. However, I seemed pretty easy to get the loan.. It took about 10 minutes of phone time.. and about 30 seconds to get an answer..
