you're in phoenix right? do some night flying (pick a direction) outside the city on an IFR flight plan. there's pretty much no reference to the horizon outside the city.

there ya go, night and actual.. :)

Go ahead and apply dude. I'm not sure why they want 25 actual time. No one i know with 300 hours has that much actual time. I'm finding so many entry jobs are pretty flexible on the number of hours they want.

Chris

"Actual instrument" is by definition in an airplane, not an FTD/Sim.

They want the instrument experience due to the coastal fog common in So Cal.

Phoenix/Vegas...same diff. :P

Honestly, I would if I felt confident on instruments right now.

A big change from the website's text:

"We always take resumes from pilots for part-time positions that occasionally open up in Los Angeles, San Diego, Baltimore and Denver. Pilots must be instrument-rated CFI's with minimum of 500 hours in type. You can email your resume to resumes@aircommedia.com. For more information, please call 858.496-1090:

And what would you need actual for with Traffic Watch? If you are IMC, you won't see the traffic anyways.....what gives?

it sure is. the one that I posted above came directly from my colleges' career services, posted 8/21. Cut and pasted.

maybe they are having a hard time getting people with 700 hours 172 time to fly traffic watch? Maybe the web site is outdated? I dunno . Maybe the times are for alumni only?

I'd say if someone was interested, don't go by what a web site says are current mins. My company advertises 1000 TT, 250 multi as mins and there were several in my class that just barely had 1000/100 and were cfi's.

i do this with my gig, and you usually go ifr to vfr on top and report on traffic that in the clear areas and shoot the ils or loc back into the airport. its only about .2 actual or so but it adds up and it can make the job a lot more fun
