Traffic Violations

Im 20 years old, just started working on my cfi and I got a few traffic violations.

Speeding ticket in new york, in florida, and a no seatbelt in new york in the past year.

I have learned my lesson, but I was wondering if it would have any significant impacts in the future when I interview at an airline?

You're done. Your career is done now

;)

You're fine, I wouldn't sweat it. No aggravating factors (reckless driving, DUI, etc), so no big deal. Just don't make a habit of moving violations.

The most important thing you can do now, is show that you've learned your lesson. You do that by not getting any more of these tickets.

Ahh since we are on this discussion...I got a tix the other day for rolling through a stop sign. My record has been pretty clean for the past couple years and the officer of course wouldn't give me a break. He did tell me though to plead guilty with a reason and try to get PBJ(?). He told me it would be taken off my record if I don't get another ticket in 90 days or so. Would I have to report that after it gets taken off my record?

Yeah it happens to everyone. I just got a 93 in a 70 ticket. Just beware that if you have a NC license they will suspend it if you get a ticket going more than 15 over the speed limit no matter where you are. So I spent all day converting my NC license to a FL one so I could avoid that mess. Taking the driving school so I can preven the insurance premiums from going up. The only thing my boss said was try to keep the tickets low so it doesn't go against their ARG/US rating. And that only really applies unless your flying Part 135.

Don't worry about it, but don't get any more! You just need to be prepared to explain it and don't get any more. I've flown with Falcon 900EX Captain for a Fortune 50 company that had over 30 traffic violations.

Yea im definatly gonna follow the rules now, I didnt spend all this money on flight training to mess it up with a few tickets.

The seatbelt ticket was very stupid, I had to drive from the gas station to my house, literally 2 blocks and as soon as I turned on my block the police car was right there facing in the opposite direction, I ended up nose to nose with them.

That gives me some hope, lol.

I thought seat belt was an "add on" violation. Is that something they can stop you for as an initial violation in your state?

Seatbelt isn't a moving violation though... won't change your insurance premiums and I doubt the airlines would care too much.

If you can't be trusted to wear a seatbelt, how can you be trusted with 100 pax in the back? :D

(I shouldn't laugh, since I could see someone saying....."hey, that's a good point!")

It used to be a secondary offense a few years back. Now the seatbelt is a primary offense and you can be stopped for it. In the warmer months the PD will have 2 or 3 cops walking around intersections with radio and telling the squad cars down the street which vehicles to stop.'

Never plead guilty to anything without talking to an attorney first. Always fight your tickets and pay for the attorney. It is a few hundred now or a headache later if the cop, judge or prosecuter decides to screw you. Most of the time you can get them dropped to a non moving violation charge or a BS charge of impeding traffic and pay a fine with no points.

Just try to keep the records clean from here on out and you should be fine. Just disclose them on the apps. If you try and hide them and airline finds out kiss the job good bye. We had one guy thrown of my ground schools for that. It was about week into groudschool and the walked in and told him to pack his bags and leave.

Just keep it squeaky from here on out... if you're just starting CFI, it'll be a couple years anyways.

Easier said than done, I know. I just took a 'parking ticket satisfaction' ($40) in September for the cell phone... worst part, I was talking to my mother.

"If mama's boy he thinks he can drive stick in rush hour traffic with one hand, how can we trust him with all these cancelled checks and cadavers?" :D

In Utah, Cops will find something magically to pull you over. Then, you’ll get your seat belt violation ticket.

p.s: I'm all for click it or ticket ;)

Don't do a thing until you get an attorney. For a couple hundred bucks, a traffic attorney can get rid of just about any moving violation. Well worth the money.
