Traffic details for jetcareers.com **WOW**

Excellent! It was interesting to see the growth of our, I mean your baby into the bad boy it is today. Good for you Doug! And WOW is right. Who knows what the future holds...

There wouldn't be a jetcareers without you guys reading and participating!

Thanks for the site, Doug. It's awesome!

don't forget 2nd most important

I've been there since day one spurring him on to create this puppy so others can benefit from his achievements AND getting him thru the times when he wanted to tear it down...

it takes both of us - fairly often - to make the site work with his demanding schedule!!

- not to give myself a pat on the back, but i'll do it anyways
tongue.gif
...just cuz i need an upper today (job problems)

AND we also need to thank all of the moderators (past, present & future) - without them, the site would probably be like airliners.net or worse about now! (ick!)

Kristie - I think you do not get enough credit. Imagine how many hours JC takes Doug away from his honey-do list.

I hear you about work; I am in the same boat. I am counting down till I retire.

Geez doug you went to Ahart to? haha small world.. nice little school though, thats where I got my PPL about 10 years ago which was probably around the same time you got your CFI there. Those other pages are really interesting. Thanks for the history lesson, and this website.. its awesome

Kudos to you as well, Kristie!

And the moderators, too. Heck, everyone! Here's to you!!

Woo-Hoo Go Kristie and Doug...Aw what the hell thanks everyone and especially all of you that have helped the development of Jet Careers.

I gotta say, if it weren't for Doug's decision many years ago to put this site together, I'm not sure I would be here right now..........sitting at an abandoned airforce base... in the middle of hell... on a friday night with nothing better to do than JC!

Seriously though the advice and guidance provided on this site has been absolutely invaluable. If I ever make it to the right seat of an RJ I will know that I owe much of it to the JC gang.

I really wonder what the future will hold for JC.
I can't even imagine how cool it will be when we have people that stumbled upon the website www.jetcareers.com many years ago with no hours and an intense interest in aviation and have since become airline pilots.

One thing that I love about JC is that it is relatively small and very personable. It truly is an online community. The other day I had lunch with a fellow JC'er that I had never met, yet somehow I felt that I already knew him.

My biggest fear for JC is that someday it might become too big of a community. I like the fact that once a person has about 100 posts you remember what their deal or situation is. As the forum grows it will become more and more difficult to remember everyone.

Once again, a big thanks to Doug, Kristie, and all that make it happen.

Yup, Ahart said, "Sure, get your CFI here and instruct for us!" then I got my CFI and they told me to beat it.

I guess I'm still pretty miffed about that one.

Well they are owned by someone else now, but the guy who used to run it still works for them, go figure. I'm actually kinda surprised they didnt hire you, at the time I was there I swear I would get a new instructor like once every few months, which by the way is not a good thing. Then again they did serve there purpose as far as getting me a PPL and they were close to pleasanton where I live.

Speaking of flight schools back in the day... I know back when I was first learning to fly, getting a private loan for a flight school was hard if not impossible as it seemed like they looked at it more like a hobby then a profession, which leads me to ask.. is that why you choose ERAU? ie: easier to get govenment loans as they are a univeristy.

I bet they did not think you would get a soapbox like this to stand on and shout about...

silly girl, you weren't insensitive at all! and I sure didn't mean to imply that either! sorry if you thought that!!!

Doug is the man of the hour when it comes to the site.. it's totally his baby and he deserves all the kudo's he's getting!! but just like with my day job, it's the little people that sometimes get left behind which is why I said kudo's to the moderators and myself...since my daytime job doesn't give kudo's to everyone (typical of an engineering firm to give kudo's to project managers, admin but not the people who actually do the work), I feel like I need to make a point of giving kudo's to everyone whose contributed to the site....just to make them all feel good too...so that pretty much includes everyone whose contributed to the forum via discussions, chats or what not... but mostly to the moderators for helping us "keep the peace"....

I'm sure many of you (with typical day jobs) know what i mean when you just don't get recognition for doing a job well done... and everyone else around you (higher ups or marketing personnel) does...just not right...

but anyways - that's another whole long topic that i just might take to the squawk box! hahaha

so - back to the program...

honey-do list... that's pretty funny...

I used to give doug honey-do lists but haven't had any for him for quite some time....

in fact - he ends up calling me to ask me to give him my "honey-do" list and i keep telling him he doesn't have one - and that boy just doesn't know what to do! ROFLOL

hey - maybe that's why he's always on the site lately? NAH! he's just as addicted as everyone else is! whew...

too funny!!

when you get there (and you will...) just make sure you help us advertise and recommend JC to everyone you meet and then come back and write an article about your personal experiences growing into the pilot you are (will be then)....cuz everyone has a different story that can be valuable to even one person walking in their shoes, and helping one person makes all the difference in the world!!

[/ QUOTE ]

lots of articles from past JCers telling how they made it, how they got there and how JC helped them get there..... I could really see the site expanding majorly if folks really want to write about their experiences getting into the right seat, or the left seat and helping that future generation hang on to a dream that at times, becomes really difficult to see (like in today's economy)....

I'm also hoping that JC will also help spurn on FCAPA so that we have a well rounded organization of both pilots and families for both support and encouragement in all perspectives of an airline career!! I can see it....we (as a team) just have to make it a reality....

[ QUOTE ]

Doug, do you mind telling us more about the history of jetcareers?

[/ QUOTE ]

How about the history of Doug, i heard it goes like this....

The details of my life are quite inconsequential...Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian woman named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.

is that pretty accurate? haha. austin powers is hilarious

But seriously, thanks doug for this website. Its great and has helped me tremendously in my path to becoming an airline pilot.

I honestly didn't know how involved you were, but when I read that I also thought "wow, of course she is!" because I know how anything hubbie takes on (i.e., flight training) really becomes kind of a group project for us (and vice versa). Which is why I hang out here -- to gain a persepective on what he's going through. It helps me a lot because we are geographically apart right now.
frown.gif

By the way, I love your fcapa we site, too. It'll be really nice when we get more regular posters there -- I've been out recruiting to the extent I know people who might be interested...

we're getting there with fcapa... the ladies at the pilotswives yahoo groups site are starting to venture over now because of the amt of porn spam it's been getting (yea - ick!)... unfortunately, the yahoo dorks won't do anything about it unless the moderator is there and she no longer watches that forum... to bad for her huh! hehe
wink.gif

I think it's great that you wives are on here. I'm not the only one anymore (which is nice) and you really do gain perspective of how much work it takes, how long it'll take and what they're trying to achieve which to me, makes a tremendous difference in how the relationship works out - just because there's more "understanding" and a lot less frustration...

good for you to take action like that!! you'all should get a pat on the back too for taking an active role!!
laugh.gif

I think fcapa.org is an excelent idea (if only I could get my wife to join-not much of a computer lady). Great job with it Kristie, I commend you!
