Trading in my Freight Dog License for a Corporate one

After 5 loooooong years of freight doggin i am moving on to the corporate world. Ever since my wife was offered a job in Socal, I have been searching hard for my next gig. I had figured with all the planes around here, and all my flight experience it would be easy to find something. That was not the case.

I had applied to every job opening in aviation short of the regionals. I had sent resumes to every Chief Pilot in a 60 mile radius, then followed up with as many phone calls as it took till I got in touch with them. I swung by their offices, to try to catch them in, which go me one interview. I met with anyone willing to meet with me irrelevant of whether they were hiring, just to meet and talk to them. I felt like there was some potential in some places but having no useful type rating, jet time or corporate time, and being new to the area it was hard to break in.

So I continued to fly freight mostly as TDY across the country from "home". One day while on the east coast i checked Jobs Available here on JC. Even though I did not meet the job description requirements, I sent a PM. I followed up with a cover letter and resume. After exchanging a few emails, 2 easy interviews, 2 weeks at Simuflite, I am now a Corporate Pilot for a King Air 350.
 
Congrats, and way to do the work. Sales guys often make 100 calls to get 1 sale, it always makes me chuckle when people looking for jobs dont want to do the work to sell their services to a potential employer.... glad to see you doing it. Best of luck in the new job, and another good testimony for the JC community.

Oh, boo hoo... :D A whole 35 minute commute in SoCal? That's at your back door. :)

Oh, and congrats on the new job!
 
That is good news. The 350 is a great aircraft.

When the mains touch down and you feel ground fine kick-in without the pilot doing anything its pretty cool.

I am curious as to what kind of prior experience you had as a freight dog that got you in the door for the KA350 position. Did you have previous jet or turbo-prop time? BE-99 time? What was your "useless" Type Rating? Anyway, congrats!
