Tradewind Aviation?

I have an interview with tradewind aviation (oxford, CT) next wed. and I wanted to know if anyone knew about their interviewing process. Any info on the company would be great. Thanks!

I can't be much help on the interview process, but I do know they have some exciting expansion plans and appear to be a very sound company from the research I done on them and phone conversations I had with their leadership a couple months ago.

Thanks for the help. They sound like nice people on the phone and, so far, I am impressed with their set-up. Blue skies.

Mudge- I interviewed there back in August and was offerred the job but didn't take it because something better came along. King Air (twin time) vs. single engine caravan time. However, they are a very good company from what I hear. Check your pm's.

Actually, forget the pm I will just post the gouge here in case it helps someone else in the future. Here it goes from the best I remember. It is a two step interview process. The first day was with standards officers, one was a Caravan captain and the other was their King Air Captain. When you show up you're going to fill out an application. I brought copies of my medicals and certs to save them a step, however they didnt need them. After the standards officers bring you in the room they should have a copy of your resume but I brought several fresh copies on resume paper, doesn't hurt. They went through typical questions... tell me about yourself etc.. and then they go through your resume. After that they have a two page sheet of technical questions mostly related to IFR procedures (holding, lost comms in imc). Then I briefed an approach into Philadelphia. I recommend hitting the remarks section early or at least at some point because this particular approach had something funny in there. They asked if I had any crew experience, did I take instrument students into IMC, what would I expect my Captain to be like and what type of first officer you would be. After that they bring you on a tour.. very impressive facility. I was called two weeks later for the second interview with the chief pilot. At that point I had the job and he just wanted to meet me. I believe all training is done in house for the Caravan SIC's. Pay was $25k a year and the per diem was pretty high something like $3.14 an hour. The caravans are all in top shape, as they are fairly new. All had radar and garmin avionics. Downsides of the job would be the fact they want you to do 3-4 week rotations in Puerto Rico and that upgrades for a while are limited to single engine airplanes (caravan PIC then Pilatus SIC). They are taking delivery on Citation Bravos but from what I see online they are hiring from outside for those positions (insurance reasons). This is all stuff the best I remember it, however, I would not be surprised if things changed. It would be a great opportunity if you think it is for you though. Good luck to you. Let me know if you have any other questions

Great, thanks. I appreciate your help. In the end end I just need a job. I have interviewed with a few companies over the past couple months and have learned much about the aviation industry. I am from Charlotte, nc but hopefully a change of scenery is coming my way. Thanks again for the help, you rock. Blue skies.

CT is a pretty descent place to live, you might like it. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I may know the Chief Pilot or Director of Operations over there, but, I don't have his contact information anymore, do you have an email address for somebody over there so that I can figure out his email address & get some information for you?

All I have as far as contact info goes is a name. I talked with a girl named Melanie. She seems very nice, I believe she is a pilot as well. I think I will be interviewing with her. It sounds low key but I'm sure there will be the normal questioning coupled with a overview of IFR knowledge. Guess I should hit the books....

Just wanted to let those whose are interested know that the interview went great. The people at tradewind are very nice and I have good vibes about them. To those who are interested, they are hiring 27 pilots! Apperently they are growing by leaps and bounds and need the help. Also, they are a sister company to Netjets. Tradewind takes care of their Carribean destinations. Not bad, right?! Anyway, thanks to all for the help and posts. Talk to ya later :)

Would you care to elaborate on what they told you? I have never heard of Tradewinds and to my knowledge, they are not a sister company to NetJets.

After looking at their website:
Their logo bears a striking resemblance to our 1965 logo.
It appears that they only have 1 jet, a Citation Bravo (We don't charter turboprops).
FAA listing shows 1 Ce525 and 2 Ce500s.

I know they fly a lot to St. Barts which any jet can't get into. My friend works for them. He said they take a lot of NetJets pax from SJU to St. Barts, not sure if its through Netjets or the passengers do it on their own.

Due to the fact that netjets can not fly into st. barths, tradwind takes the pasengers the rest of the way. I do not know if they are scheduled or the passengers go on their own. About the web site, i think it is a bit old. I was walking around the hanger and there was, I think a bravo and a citation 2 or 3. It' a bit fuzzy now. Anyway, they had couple jets flying and/or on the ramp plus another one soon to be delivered. The interview was brief so there might be a few holes in my memory but overall they are growing faster than they can keep up with and are projected to keep it that way. See ya...

Looking for any new information on Tradewind. Heard they were in a hiring frenzy again and wanted to know if some of the JC-ers have previously or currently working for them that could spill some information.

Thank you for your time.
