Touchscreen avionics?

Had some touch screen equipment in an airplane I used to fly. Wasn't that bad for leaving fingerprints, but it did leave them. Wasn't that bad to operate, but it could be a challenge when the rides got a little rough.

I think turbulence would be almost as much of an issue as the fingerprints. Just trying to hit the right soft keys can be a challenge sometimes.
Whoops, I just deleted our flightplan and took us from Center to some random unicom frequency....

The 757/767 ACARS thingy is touch screen. I've never seen operators have any problems with it.

A BIG pet peeve of mine is people pointing to stuff on the displays and leaving big greasy fingerprints all over. I carry eyeglass cleaner for just those scenarios.

Well, at least you would know what is safe to touch and what isn't. Like START ENGINES, compared to CLOSE FUEL VALVES.

Weve been using touch screens for awhile in ATC and they dont get that dirty. Once a week we go through and just wipe them down with a damp cloth.

Turn the screen off and then post the pic of the black screen...

I've got to clean the PFD's and MFD's once a week because the bosses can't keep their fingers off the displays.
