Totalling the log book...

Nark

Macho Superpilot
I have an interview coming up, and have spent the better part of my day off catching up on logbook totals.

I added the last page up, three times, and found a new personal record, 94.1 hours on a single page.

In case your wondering, it has 14 lines per page.

I need a vacation....

My last page on my logbook with 14 lines has 85.2 hours

But one line has has 52 hours (35 flights) just in Dual Instruction that I didnt want to put in line by line. Im getting ready for my 5th Jeppesson logbook.

<<< needs a vacation as well. July has been our 135 company's busiest month ever so far.

Logbook Pro (or some other e-logbook?) might help doing the math.

I over do it though. I use both paper and electronic. I keep Logbook Pro up to date (its easy) but I'm almost a year behind on the paper one.
(Hey, why put off till tomorrow what can be done the days after;))

Good luck on the interview!

I use an excel spreadsheet logbook as well, it has an 8710 built into it, which makes it easy for filling out applications and updating the resume.

I'm with you on the "day after tomorrow", however that day is coming up shortly and I don't think the folks doing the interview want to see that...

This is logbook number 2, but still has a lot of life left in the pages...

What goes under the type column for Parker Pen? Kidding aside, I have to do the exact same thing but in the reverse order. My trusty Jepp logbook is up to date but I need to re up my times in Logten Pro.

Flighlogg.in is a great site too and its totally free. I keep both my logbook and online version up-to-date.

I OVERDUE IT. I have paper, Windows based logbook, and Logten Pro for Mac. Won't sign a page until all three match. OCD?!?

I really need to get logbook pro. Right now I only have about 180 hours and It would be easy for me to start. Much easier to start now instead of when I have over 1000 hours to put in.

Can anybody recommend any good Linux compatible logbook programs?
Have you tried Logbook Pro or one of the others in Wine? (I assume that you're talking one of the logbook-specific programs rather than a spreadsheet that you can open up in OpenOffice).

If not, you can always go the VirtualBox route. I think a lot of Linux users (other than the religious hardcore group of course) find that there are some Windows programs they just need to use (mine was Quicken during my Linux experimentation)

I've tried using a couple of different versions of Logbook Pro in WINE and it just doesn't work. The program shell opens fine but it won't bring up any dialogs for entering time or display the logbook or any reports. I'm pretty sure it makes calls into Windows-specific API functions. Thanks for the suggestions though. I guess I'll just have to keep searching...

Why not just use flightlogg.in?

I'd really like the ability to add custom fields (e.g. NVG) and generate the reports that a lot of the dedicated logbook programs use. I will most likely just end up using Logbook Pro on a NetBook or something. Thanks for the suggestions!

Am I crazy for just using the old fashioned paper logbook and that's it? I do make photo copies on occasion and send them to my parents, but for the math I just go through every page a minimum of 3 times (and make sure they add up the same 3 times).

Anyone use LogTen Pro for Mac? I'd be interested in starting when i'm low hours to get into an electronic logbook

My electronic version - which is only a spreadsheet, allows me to quickly total obscure times potential employers want and serves as a backup to my paper version. Also the electronic version is periodically backed up to online storage I have.
