In their rush to deliver the aircraft, the former manufacturer of the EA500 [Eclipse Aviation Corporation] delivered to owners an aircraft that was only about 85 percent complete. These aircraft were great performers, but still lacked several important features. We now have completed the design and engineering of the EA500.

Ya hu. I don't know which is worse, admitting the airplane wasn't complete and selling it as it, or pretending like "they fixed it". Phil Trenary would be proud.

Sigh. You're right, what do I know.

Honestly, what more can they do? What do you want them to do? What's your problem with the Eclipse 500?

They've got an airplane, which as of right now, is one of the better VLJ's on the market. The company that exists today got basically $1 billion for $40 million. They have decided to improve the airplane, in order to make it competitive, and want to make that known. I can't wait until they start making new planes, which should be soon, from what I've seen.

*yawn*

Seen a lot have you? Which area were you working on for the cert?

I've done so many victory laps on this God damn airplane, that I guess I'm finally tired of it. You run with it kid, you seem very knowledgeable on the topic.

Ha. We have one on the field. It looks pretty neat, the pilot says it is a dream to fly, but you can't help but walk by and see the 396 on the dash and think, "what a yoke".

So wait, you catch the news story about them finally getting the FIKI and avionics issues done, but manage to miss the "We're going to start building planes" announcement. http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/gene...duction To Resume, Holland Says&channel=busav

I don't do much aviation week and space pornography anymore. Aeronews is news light for me. But then again, my knowledge on Eclipse isn't from news articles nor is it from the internet.

I guess you are trying to say I was surprised they were building airplanes, or assuming that I should be on top of every article about Eclipse (wasn't surprised they were building planes in the slightest). I'm on the road a lot with the job and don't talk to my ex co workers like I used to, but when I see a press release that has some funny phrasings I do like to post them.

My old boss apparently looked at getting an eclipse, abnd was told by someone who knows about these things that he wouldnt be surprised if the FAA AD's them into the ground. (Yeah, i know, i heard from a guy who heard from a guy)

I havent talked to too many pilots who were over joyed with them, either.

When we frequented Boca Raton, my boss ALWAYS commented on the DayJet airplanes that taxied by and how he wanted to get one. I told him I'd fly ANY other type of aircraft on the market except that piece of crap.

I'd agree with that, except I know several Citation operations that instead of upgrading avionics, got a 396, strapped it to the glareshield, and that's their weather.

Yeah, cause that Citation doesn't already have an operative IFR approved GPS navigation system.

Wasn't there someone on the site that was invovled in the Eclipse certification process in some manner or other?
