Total Cost of Ari Ben

So lets say one wants to go to Ari Ben and needs to take a loan out. What are the estimated total costs that people seem to be paying?

Pro Pilot Course: $39,995.00
Private add-on: $5,500.00

Total: $ 45,495.00

So now who can give me a rough estimate of what the actual costs might be, considering probably having to pay for three additional months of housing, needing books, charts, written exams, examiner fees, and anything that I'm missing?

Are we still close to $50,000.00 ?

What are costs that some of you have paid?

Thanks

Just found this in a similar post:

Right now the price for the pro course is 35,995 books are 600. administration fee and insurance 200. Books 600. written are 680. check rides are 2,200. If you fail a written or check ride you will have to pay to do them again. But the total estimated cost will be 39,675.
This includes 3 months of housing. after that the price of housing will be 600. a month. This price includes everything except food. If you need anything else please feel free to contact me at anytime.

Still curious if anything is missing.

I'm an IFR student with 86hrs in the logbook. Fly only at the weekends and I do not include rent in the costs.

So far I have spent approx $3,800 on items other than flight and instruction.

Big ticket costs were
Hand held GPS - $750 (purchased after PPL)
Headset - $400 (purchased after PPL - used the schools for free)
Private Pilot Kit that my first school used $418 (not worth in)
Jepp Ins and Commercial Kit $298 - worth it.
Private Pilot Written + Checkride $460
Security fees (TSA stuff - non citizen) $410
Medical $225 (got a 3rd then 1st)
Insurance $175

The remainder is for charts, other books, yoke clips, fuel gauges, flashlamps and all the stuff you never even thought of budgeting for. Most of the items above could be got for cheaper if you buy second hand.

Hope this helps somewhat.

My budget is 62k. PPL+Pro pilot. I'm a forigner with a J1 visa and that adds to the cost. The J1 deposit is 3k. $390 TSA. $500 airline ticket. And the budget covers 10 months of housing (3 of those free) since that's what I've heard is the average completion time. Though the school says 1 month for the PPL and 4-5 months for the pro course. $1200/month living expence(including rent). So without all these extras, 58k.

But do all students need a hand held GPS? Can you recomend getting one?

no, you do not need a hand held GPS. when I left a few years ago, they had some gps installed in some of the duchess.
