Here's the secnerio.

What cockpit instruments will still function?


Bonus points if you can tell me what information you can get from these instruments.

1) inclinometer
2) magnetic compass
3) airspeed indicator
4) altimeter
5) vertical speed indicator

My standby gyro (from the e-batt), my back-up A/S Indicator, my Stand-by Altimeter and my mag compass...

I get airspeed, altitude, attitude and directional info...

What do I win??? What do I win???

I'll give it a go off the top of my head (assume constant power settings for explanations):

-Airspeed Indicator - Uh, airspeed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Or more importantly, pitch trend.
-Altimeter - Altitude and climb/descent trends.
-Vertical Speed Indicator - Pitch trend.
-Mag Compass - Heading info.
-MP - Indirectly, altitude. If you're flying at 25" at 5000' and begin a descent to sea level (and you do not reduce power to maintain 25"), your MP will rise to roughly 30" by the time you reach sea level.
-RPM - Assuming a fixed-pitch prop, you can get an idea of your acceleration/deceleration due to pitch. This would be extremely rough, but a rise in RPM would indicate an acceleration, and vice versa.

Lemme know if there's something I missed.

Oh yeah, let's not forget the electronic E6-B, or did the batteries fail in that?

Your list only left out two (as far as I know). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The CHT and EGT guages. (the old analog versions, not the fancy engine monitors)

The thermocouples connect directly to the guages and do not require any electrical power. Two metals in the thermocouple heat up at diffrent rates creating a small eletrical charge, this is what is measured and displayed on the guage.

FYI to guesstimate altitude based on MAP you must have your RPM at it's highest setting. Also, turbos may start off with a higher number than 30".
