To the Moon!

When Artemis reaches the moon will the astronauts plant a MAGA flag? And will orange man announce that he’s renaming it for himself?

The lack of decent onboard cameras for live shots during launch is such a PR fail for NASA.

I know it’s not necessary, but you work off of public funds, it would go a long way with keeping tax payers engaged and excited.

The camera work was shockingly bad. Like, was that on purpose? They didn’t even show it clearing the launch tower, lol.

Relieved it was a good launch though.

What an incredible launch. I got chills watching it, of course at the final count but also for the launch readiness poll to continue past the T-10 hold. It has always been one of my favorite parts of a launch. I'm glad that after all the delays they were finally able to make it go. A good old fashioned NASA program hits different from the commercial ones. It's the space program I grew up in and around, where things were being developed in the name of furthering scientific research for the improvement of humanity, not to stroke some billionaire's ego.

Man that was cool to watch. Can’t wait to see the pics when they pass the moon. And as our biggest hypocrite of turning stuff political has stated, I don’t wanna make it political but some POS better not take credit for this.

As much as it pains me to say it, I hope Artemis 4 and the moon landing gets delayed enough that it will be under a new administration, so he can't taint it with his narcissism by trying to take credit for it.

Yea, stopped watching 10 minutes after launch when all they had up was space sim style video of the vehicle.

after they jettisoned the Launch abort system the commander said something like “we got a great view of the moon and we are heading right at it”

My response was”well that woulda been nice to see”

I want to see when my tax dollars are used for something actually important, like this.

There is only one football.

The Artemis II is not landing on the moon, it’s a flyby while they test life support systems.

And keep the political BS out of this thread please.
You are the last person to tell anyone to depoliticize anything. You'd politicize a wet dream.

I'm personally kind of struck by the parallels between this and Apollo 8. 1968 - year of turmoil, horrible. 2026 - ditto in negative vibes. Almost the same kind of mission, to the same place. Gives everyone a reason to smile, at least for a short time.
