To ... STL in a PA28-235!

Ok so I picked up a flight to St. Louis in a Cherokee 235 (leaving tomorrow morning). I'm giving the guy his checkout today and then early tomorrow morning it's off to the great midwest. He's a 76 hr private and lives in Kirksville but he's dropping me off in STL (SUS to be exact) and I'll just bunk with my mom tll Sunday.

I've made this flight twice in the Apache but apparently the the 235 cruises slightyly faster - that's actually kind of sad.

So I guess if anyone has any info on a 235 they'd like to share that'd be great.

I'm getting paid for the flight and a 1st class ticket home. Think it'll be fun.

Have fun with the flight. The -235 is a fun airplane. If you have any PA-28 time, then you should be good to go...a Cherokee is a Cherokee is a Cherokee (for the most part). Just remember not to relax too much, since you don't know much about the pilot, from the sound of it. Trust me, it can be a dangerous mix.

I flew a -235 from Newport, RI to French Valley, CA this past December with a student pilot...it was an interesting flight and I learned a lot about myself and not trusting students. If you want details, PM me and I'll give you some specifics...I think my mind has tried to block some of the bad parts out already

You do have a high performance endorsement, or grandfathered in, right? How many hours or days of flying are you expecting? Are you sharing hotel rooms? expenses paid? Charts paid for?

It is like better flying 182. Nose gets heavier on short final, so trim can be your friend there. I did about 40-50hrs in a 235. About 90% of my IFR training was in that plane. Lean for cruise nice, and it'll got a nice distance. One I flew was flowing 10.9-11.5 gal/hr most times. Don't forget to switch tanks if it has the 4 tank option a majority of them have.

everything is paid for (including charts) ... $250/day plus food, hotels and charts plus a first class ticket on AA home Sunday morning.

And yeah I have some warrior and arrow time ... I do have my HP endorsement.

My dad has a PA-28-236... pretty much the same as a 235 but with a tapered wing (may be some other differences..??).. great flying airplanes... nose does get heavy down in the ground effect.. just trim it up and leave a little power in... have fun

Well I'm in STL. Flight went well. Now I get a ride on AA back home ...
