To become a FI ?

I did do a search , but nothing covering this exactly , so em ...

What is needed to become a FI ?

What ratings do you need , and how much is it roughly gonna cost ?

In the U.S. you would go: Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor.

The absolute minimum time (under part 61) would be 250 hours and cost is probably going to run around $25,000USD (250hrs x $100/hr). Cost however will vary wildly depending on where you go and how you do things.

You HAVE to get your CPL ?

Can you get any jobs for just PPL , or a PPL with ME or PPL with IR ?

Private Pilots can not fly for compensation OR hire (the FAA view hours logged as compensation).

So yes you must get a commercial certificate if you want to get paid.

part 61 can do it in 200 TT (w/50 hrs FTD).

You need a commercial certificate to be paid to act as pilot in command.

An interesting aside, if you arent acting as PIC while instructing, you can be paid even if you dont have a valid medical, as you are not excersizing the privledges of your commercial certificate.
