Tired of Quicken. What else is out there?

ZapBrannigan

If it ain’t a Boeing, I’m not going. No choice.
I've been using Quicken to track my finances for years but i'm getting tired of Qucken balances not matching the balances on each online account etc. Plus they keep trying to force me to use their budget tools. I don't wanna. lol

Anything else out there so I can have a one stop shop to view all of my various accounts without the errors and intrusion of Quicken?

thanks!

What's personal capital like? I really hate the budget tools in all of hit his software. What I really want is one stop shop to look at current balances for all of my accounts. I'll manage the family budget exclusive of these products.

Personal Capital doesn't do budgets and is more focused on investments. It was made by a few people from the mint group and seems to take what they learned from that and made a better program.

I used to love Mint but in the last few months it's missed transactions and doubled or even tripled others. I have a spreadsheet I do each month for a budget and another one I have for debt and investments to back up mint and personal capital.

RIP Microsoft Money. I finally gave up on the "sunset" version, now at least six years past update, because nothing will work right or sync anymore. It wasn't the best, but I liked it so much more than I like Quicken. They've got me this time, but I might try another service when the "update" comes in a few years.

I remember using MS Money when I was in High School. I didn't know anyone still used it!

What are you looking for in a finance tracking program? If you were to combine the features of all the programs out there, what is most important to you? I am aware of another finance program being developed that uses your expense history to create a budget for you but that might be too intrusive.

Maybe mint.com or creditkarma.com is what you're looking for..

I gladly pay an accountant rather than using TurboTax.

I loathe those loathsome loathes.
I am almost to that point where I have enough going on to have a CPA do it but I can't give up my numbers fun!

For those that have a Vanguard account they give a killer discount on all levels of Turbo Tax I paid only $75 for the highest tier and one state income.

$150 will get you a real accountant, tax advice and someone to ride shotgun with you during an audit. And that includes business taxes.

Mine are (yep, plural) around $350.00 - but I'm dealing with foreign taxes, exclusions, etc. It's not an area you want to skimp on. Not all CPA's are good tax people, and not all tax people are CPA's. Enrolled agents are usually a good choice. Mine are CPA's though.

Oh, and getting tax advice over the internet is potentially financial suicide. That includes this post. :)

Turbo tax does that as well but in the unlikely event that the IRS tries going for my extra two pennies I have a few CPAs in the family.
