Tips for getting a CFI job

Hey all, anyone out there got some tips for getting a CFI job? Aparently they don't want part time people but yet I know several guys who applied for and got a full time position and still only work part time, what gives? As cool as flying in the simulators is, it doesn't seem to be getting me any closer to a flying job. Any advice would be apreciated, cause frankly I'm a bit discouraged right now, seems by the time I get some hours, the regional hiring boom will be over.

Apply, apply, apply. I applied at probably 50 places, and the only reason I got hired was because someone else was starting up a flight school, went to one of the other flight schools, and said "If you were to hire 5 people right now, which 5 would they be" and then aced the interview.

You're going to have to be willing to drive up to 90 minutes each way... That'll increase your possibility for a job (and it's not that bad a commute, trust me, I do 1:15 each way every day... It's like living in a city).

Don't give up the search, after not hearing anything for 3 months, I got 2 offers in a matter of two days.
 
I am pretty sure the regional hiring boom is over .......at least for now. The only thing that helps is that it seems more and more people are getting fed up with the deteriorating situation in the industry and are getting out, so that means there will be some jobs to be had.

I've heard a CFI rating can be quite useful in getting one :)

Seriously though, just keep on trying and use your resources (i.e. friends, local knowledge etc) One helpful way is to be very friendly with the FBO staff and owner where you rent from, it has helped several people I know get a job. If you are friendly and your part-time hours are reasonable, I am sure you have a good chance; maby you can start the 1st month full-time and then shift into part time? Just a thought. you're kidding right? florida is saturated, which is why i'm moving to PA. at least there I can have some students

there's openings for tons of CFI jobs in florida all over climbto350.com and other sites. just the other day a place cold called me to see if i was interested in moving. there are tons of places that seem to need instructors.
