Tipping

To add, as an employee working for tips, I would have found it insulting to be handed money for no/poor work. I can almost guarantee the van drivers who don't help with bags don't expect to be tipped.

While I agree and I do the same, I always wonder why people take jobs that realistically require lifting when they can't do it. I know often there's more to the story, but why not look for the front desk job.

They probably can lift it, I just don't let them.
 
Just about to finish a trip where I haven't been able to tip since the first day. Ran out of cash and coincidentally, my debit card # was stolen and my card was canceled. On a holiday weekend. No way to get more cash until Tuesday. I always tipped a dollar prior to this incident, seemed to be the standard at this airline when I started... So here I stand, classified as one of those "cheap-ass first year regional FOs". No, I don't make much money. No, I don't eat out every night or in the airport for 3 meals a day, but I'm finding a way to get by without starving myself (and probably getting some sort of hyper-sodium disorder) on Ramen. I can spare a dollar to tip the van guy
