Time limit to edit posts?

Going back, and realizing you made grammatical or spelling mistakes, etc. After a certain time period, one can't. Why?

It's a fairly standard thing built into most forums you post on.

Xenforo (the forum software) defaults to 60 minutes and largely the idea, from a Webmaster's perspective, is that I wouldn't be able to post "All dog people must DIE!!", create a bunch of buzz and then a few days later, edit the post to read "I like Tacos" and claim innocence.

Something I never really thought about beyond that.

When i get some dev time, perhaps in August, if there’s a plug-in which keeps post history, it’s something to look into.

Never underestimate peoples sneakiness by making a bombastic post, “getting the party started” and then changing the post text and claiming innocence.

Time to edit a post....

How long does it take to sleep off a hangover? Ok take that and add 2 hours.

Far longer than it takes for Google to index and cache the page.
