Ticket Prices

Hey guys, so i'm thinkin about buying my plane tickets to come there in the fall...damn...they're nearly 600 bux. I tried Student Universe and they said there were no student fares available; i've tried pretty much every other ticket agency online (priceline, orbitz, cheaptickets, hotwire...the list goes on) and I can't seem to find anything below 1000 bux on those websites. The cheapest I got was 589 on NWA.com. So my question is, should i just go for that price? am I going to find anything much less than that? Do you guys have any other advice, any other sites i should try???

Thanks a lot for all of your help,

peace, Bauer

ps i almost wish i was in GFK right now...that soccer and tubing and biking and stuff that you guys are planning out there sounds really fun, of course going to the beach everyday and basking in the california sun is cool too, but you know... :-D

Did you try other locations like FAR or MSP? Sometimes it's cheaper. Anyway..always worth a shot. But, ya i found the same thing cause i was planning for Nov. but that's not going to happen with prices around $600+

I have been using kayak.com

They have been the cheapest by far since I started using them in January. They have saved me about $200 on every round trip I have been using lately. Typical DEN-DCA r/t flights are around $400 and up, I scored one with Kayak for $230 that I wouldnt have found without them.

Hey guys, thanks for the help...hey, if I was to fly into Fargo, is there a way to get to grand forks? like is there a bus or something like that?

Thanks for the Kayak link too!

peace, Bauer

I believe that there is a Greyhound bus station pretty close to the Fargo airport, and i know they run a few busses between Grand Forks and Fargo

just deal with it thats how much its going to cost especially when going home in thanksgiving and or winter. Either use studentuniverse, or just check rates on NWA.com often. another option is to take the 1am train out of GFK to MSP then fly from there tickets a lot cheaper from MSP-LAX then it is from GFK.

Yeah, keep checking NWA.com or Orbitz. Try using the "flexible dates" option. Otherwise FAR may have something. Yes there are I think 1 or two busses from FAR to GFK. Its served by Jefferson Lines now, and they do stop right on the UND campus. You'll have to call for the times though. You'll have to take a cab from the airport to downtown Fargo though. Another option....Amtrak..fly to MSP and catch the light rail to downtown Minneapolis, then catch bus route 16 to the Amtrak station. However if you have lots of bags, its probably worth paying 20 bux for a cab. Train leaves MSP at 10:50 pm daily.

Bauer... you "could" go the old-fashioned way and consult your local travel agent. Once I was able to get cheaper fares than what was available on the internet for an international flight I made a few years ago.

Also... do what my brother did... He booked tickets for my mother, father, sister, and himself... he saved 100's of dollars by booking a hotel/airfare combination into Fargo. Obviously, my family wasn't going to stay in a hotel in Fargo when visiting me...but for some odd reason the total hotel/airfare cost was actually 100's of dollars cheaper than buying the airfare alone. Try booking a two-way ticket - you never know if it might be cheaper than a one-way!

Were in SoCal are you coming from? Are you going to GFK for school or to visit campus? Not sure where you are at, but SAN-MSP is $128 OW, and then you catch a Bus, or still connect on NWA. THe problem going to GFK is that NWA is about the only dog in that show. You want to go, you will pay.

use the 'flex dates' options when searching, fare on peak days varies up to +- 200 bucks ive seen.... mid week its about 350~400 to go to AUS from here, weekend and peak days, its about 700

hooray for small towns.

ok what airlines does fly to GFK? I know NWA is one of them but they are dam expensive :(

Northwest/Northwest Airlink is the only airline that flies into GFK. The reason they are so expensive is cause they don't have any competition, meaning they can jack up the price.

Try Fargo (FAR)! Northwest, United, Delta and Allegiant fly there. More options, less expensive. Also, check http://www.studentuniverse.com for cheaper tickets.
