Thunderstorms at night enroute

try tucking your arms in towards your torso when you shoot and holding your breath for the duration of the shot (exhaled is better) if you don't have a tripod.
Sounds like it came right out of the Nikon training video. Then again, it is pretty common across the board. It's the same for firing a gun, as well.
 
Some of those pics looks like there's a fire in the sky. Great resolution and pics btw. What type of camera did you use and where was it taken?
 
Wow, great shots. I was flying from Nashville to Houston last night (on Continental) and got an up-close look at some very nasty looking clouds and lightning. Beautiful and ugly at the same time....

Damn storm made me miss my connection and I ended up getting home to the wrong airport (by choice) and finally getting into bed at 4:30 a.m.
