Thoughts on Jeppesen's Denver school

@womanpilot73 @Keola

Enrolled at Jeppesen for July! Excited and terrified simultaneously- wanted to, once again, express how grateful I am for all the tips, pointers and honest advice. I'll be spending the next few weeks going over the ton of books they just shipped to my house, but I've taken note that the consensus seems to be for me to focus on studying for the ADX written test, with some attention to meteorology, weight and balance, and such. I will be under a Gleim rock until the end of August.
Good luck and have fun..

You'll have a great time at Sheffield Jay. I graduated from their in March and loved every second of it. It was challenging but very rewarding. Ruben and Brent are excellent instructors and they have the pacing of the course dialed in perfectly. Day one when you look at the schedule, you think its not possible to cover all this, but in retrospect you'll be impressed what you can accomplish. I have to say the one on one time with the instructors was like nothing I've ever experienced, so if you have any questions ask. I know womanpilot73 shared her experience about Jepp and it sounded great, but from my experience with Sheffield, I just don't see how anyone else could be better. I guess they can be great in their own regards, but I was 100% truly satisfied with Sheffield. If anyone has any questions, hit me up.

Old post, I know - but I wanted to give a shout-out to those who contributed. I'm close to retiring from the USAF and aspire to be a dispatcher. The thread was helpful in some very early decisions. Onward I go...

I can't speak for the other schools, but Sheffield is the way to go. I have trained Sheffield and non-sheffield students....and the differences are startling.

My shop has a stated preference for Jepp grads however my hiring class was all IFOD except for one from a college in Washington so take that for whatever it is worth.

Ya know, I've been recently wondering why that is...especially since I think the three of us are the only IFOD grads here.

There have been several from IFOD that have moved on from OO to the majors and there are a couple more in the newer classes I believe.

The arrogance of Sheffield grads is startling
I lol'd. Being a trainer for new hires, I can agree with this. All these new bro's that come in thinking they are hot sh*t then subsequently fail their first desk check. The attitude changes drastically afterward.
