This is just wrong, whats wrong with ppl these days?

Waste of FAA Resources

I am not irritated so much by the fact that they are getting in trouble for technically not following the rules (though it is asanine) but mainly the fact that this is what the FAA there is doing when there are much more important issues at hand.

I want to know what motivated them to do this. Some event must have been an initiative.
 
I think they should have every right to say "Thanks, Good Morning, See ya later."

First it makes everybody feel like they are talking to a real person, and not a fricking machine. Second, when student pilots call ATC and they receive a "Thanks, or Fly Safe" from ATC, it makes them a little less worried about contacting ATC. Yeah, I know we're talking about busy airports and airliners, but still, come-on people.

I think the pilots can understand the controllers quite well and don't need to hear "Roger", "Maintain Speed", "Increase Speed".

This is disappointing.
 
When I was in the sim during initial, our instructor drilled us on being standard. If I said anything nonstandard, he told me to keep it standard. That being said, after IOE, the checkairman didn't detail every nonstandard phrase I may have used. Evaluators who do that are missing the point by a mile.
 
Honestly, this is just....well....stupid. Not that I'm surprised since it IS the FAA. Anyone else catch the contridictions in the last two letters? They don't want them saying "see ya" or "please" or "thank you," but they want them to end every transmission with the aircraft call sign. So, if you argue that the niceties clog up the frequency, you're left with clogging up the frequency by saying the call sign after EVERY transmission. It's a whole lot easier and quicker to say "thanks" than something like "November-two-three-Delta" or "Flagship-three-two-niner-alpha."
 
This should be in general topics, it's an important issue that all pilots, not just professionals, have to deal with.
 
It totally ruins my concentration when one of those controllers has the nerve to thank me or worse - tells me to have a good morning.
 
Unbelievable! I always greet the controller on initial contact and upon leaving their frequency. It's a crapshoot as to whether or not they'll say anything back, but the trend lately is 'unfriendly'. I realize they have better things to do than to tell me "good morning", but getting written up for it is crazy!
 
I checked in with Indy Center early one morning and the guy said "...I'll have new routing for ya' when I finish my doughnut"....poor guy would probably get fired for that today!
