I think they should have every right to say "Thanks, Good Morning, See ya later."  
 
First it makes everybody feel like they are talking to a real person, and not a fricking machine. Second, when student pilots call ATC and they receive a "Thanks, or Fly Safe" from ATC, it makes them a little less worried about contacting ATC. Yeah, I know we're talking about busy airports and airliners, but still, come-on people. 
 
I think the pilots can understand the controllers quite well and don't need to hear "Roger",  "Maintain Speed",  "Increase Speed".
 
This is disappointing.
