This is almost kinda funny... a DCA student!

She was hitting on him. (We weren't married then.)

Can't say as I blame her!

Not to embarass Jon, as if it's possible, especially considering that he's an afficianado of the SAN Hooters down by the Horton Plaza, he's an undeniable icon of our pilot group.

I'm trying to dig up one of the old 'Nam photos but I think it's buried someplace on the home network!

And the prestigious pilot uniform. I don't care what anyone says, when I'm an airline pilot I'm wearing my pilot cap and my jacket everywhere when I'm working besides when flying.

You wont be pulling any wool;) So you wont ever have to take your uniform off

Wear your uniform outside of the airport, expect to get handed keys to park cars as a valet.

People still think I'm a friggen skycap 90% of the time!

Last time I had a "skycap" problem is when I was waiting for Kristie to pick me up in PHX and I was standing a little too close to the Skycap stand and they thought I was "perpetuating" on their turf, pretty funny!

"A...man..."

"A...man..."

"You terminal FO?"

"Wassup, yo? you from FO?"

I will say it again. If you cannot pick up chicks in civies, you wont in a uniform.... There are no magical epaulets that give you "game"

If you don't have grey hair and a pilot uniform, fuggedabowdit!

Uh, think I figured it out. DFW Rotation 7424, Dec 22, 2002.

Supposed to be a MCI and double SAN layover, ended up MCI/ORD/ONT! Got back Christmas day. Seem to remember having to buy a heavy winter jacket in the SLC airport thanks to reroute sending me to ORD in the dead of winter vice sunny SAN!

If this is the one, did he mention Dick's Last Resort near the Navy Pier in Chicago? Gahhhh.....

If it is, and he does, my previous disclaimer applies!

Doug,

Which 'Nam pix?

Enquiring minds and all that!

Tell me how I can put images in my posts. And no, I won't put the one of me and Reb at Hooters with the "twins"!

Or...true story.

Breakfast at the Holiday Inn (former Hilton) Crystal City, VA (another wonderful DCA layover). I'm in the food line, in uniform, just prior to pickup, and a guy at a table asks me for some water!

Would have given him some but I'm not a proctologist!

His Christmas trip in 2002 had him in SDF Christmas eve. I remember it well because he rented a car there and drove through a massive blizzard to get to his parents house in IND. It was one of those trips that leaves you stranded for a day, so he essentially had Christmas 'off' (SDF overnight) and left SDF early on the 26th. His captain that trip lived in CVG, and he rented a car and drove home.

Bah, heavy winter coat for ORD? I used to do MQT trips in the winter wearing a skirt & heels (no boots)!

Well shazabatt!

I tried to figure it out from your last name on the article you wrote, and compare that to my log book. Only found one "Smith" so that's what I came up with.

Didn't recognize the face in the picture.

Speaking of old "Nam photos....

f58f0bd6.jpg

In the FWIW department, this pix was taken at Vung Tau AAF, RVN in late 1969. There are three future Delta Air Lines Captains in the photo, two of which I know are retired. Amazing they made it that long in life. The third may be too. We were all steely eyed killers flying the C7A "Caribou" transport at this time. There are also two Purdue Boilermakers in the photo. Both of us are still around as we speak!

It proves the adage that God looks after fools, drunks, and young Air Force pilots!
