I'm guilty of commuting in uniform. Makes it easier to pack for the trip in my experience. Plus, ORD security sucks, so being in uniform helps make that experience a little easier!

Commuting out of uniform is more the exception with me.
It's so much easier getting through security...as well as not having to carry my jacket and stuff folded up in my overnight bag...even if I'm commuting up the day before. I do commute less in my uniform in the summer just for the sake of comfort and since I don't have to wear my jacket.
Theres a fine line between not flaunting your job and being embarrassed about your job. I will never be embarrassed about being a pilot. I try not to go places in my uniform when im outside of workm but no freaking way am i changing to stop by subway or the grocery store on the way home or going to work.
Despite the junk we have to go through... I cant stand the people that complain incessantly about our job.. I would never want to be sitting in an office from 9-5 the rest of my life. I love that when im at work.. im working my ass off..but on my days off.. I am completely off.
People will always be a bit ignorant about things..try to explain it as best you can do them
...and douchebags like this guy. He'll get what's coming to him. If he has to lie like this to get chicks, he's got other issues...or if he's stupid enough to believe the he actually is gonna be a Delta pilot in 8 months when they wont be hiring for a good 4 years or so.

Chicks don't dig pilots anyway. Chicks dig guys that sell fine women's shoes for "Nine West" whose best friend (and roommate) is a marketing rep for "Prada" and how, "...Wait...you're a size seven? I think we've got some shoes that may fit you back at the house if you want to drop by after last call".
That's what chicks dig. And handsome, clean-shaven, single and disease-free guys like JDFlight.

Chicks dig me...really and I mean like alot. And not always in the gay best friend kinda way.
While yes I do have lots of female friends who do think of me only ina platonic way. More women seem to be attracted to me romantically.
There trying to be all over me like an 8 yr. old boy at a NAMBLA convention.
Well until I tell them that I'm gay which they never ever seem to believe.
They think that I'm lying to them and making up excuses to not want to date them or they think that I'm saying cause I think there ugly.
Then there are the ones who are turned on by the fact that I am gay.
Man if I was str8 I'd be the big pimp mack daddy.

Ok it's gonna be quick. This is back when it was CAA. There's this student and he gets this idea to go to MCO in his uniform and ride one of the parking shuttles around to try to pick up some chicks. He pretends to be a Comair pilot. He's sitting on the bus and some girls take the bait, but un beknowst to him there are two CAA instructors in civies. So they recognize the student but he doesn't know the instructors. They move in and bait the student asking him questions about being a Comair pilot. They also claim to be Comair pilots. They ask him what base he is at and if he know this or that person. They start asking harder and harder questions, till the student has more than he can handle, and gets off at the parking lot. The instructors come back from their trip and upon returning to CAA, they tell the chief instructor about their encounter on the shuttle bus. The student gets called in to see the chief instructor. Upon entering the office he sees the two guy from the bus that were asking him questions. He was so red faced. He knew he was done. It got around school and eventually he disenrolled from the school.

I hate NARC's....the two instructors should have just confronted the student on there own and not involved management. The dork would have learned his lesson after that and everyone would have gone home happy.

yep back from the artic wasteland they call central Montana where it was -10. Just cant get to into reading jetcareers when your connection is a whopping 33.6K. But i m back for more DCA bashing and smart assed comment saying.

Old story from Riddle. We were out at a bonfire party in Chino Valley and this student, complete with the leather "Top Gun" flight jacket was talking to this blonde.
This was 1989 so don't think he was a complete dork for having a Top Gun jacket.
Anyway, he's telling this blonde about how he's an FA-104 student, how he almost crashed once and how he heroically saved the aircraft, yadda yadda yadda. You know, trying to put the 'hero pilot' swing on his attempt to woo the girl. He's top of his class, going to fly F-15's, etc.
Turns out that the blonde was his flight training manager.
