I think he is playing the crazy card for media attention.

Maybe he should invest in fireproof fabric research...
I'm pretty sure that was caused by somebody packing it with a dull knife and a ball peen hammer rather than any sort of melting. It is an irrational fear of mine to look up and see a chute that looks something like that.
