This forum is dead

Freedom is flashing across your eyes and its in your dreams every night I bet haha. :D

Yes instructors push checklists because they have to, but find one of the few unique instructors and they can make it enjoyable. There are two kinds of instructors here. Either they did all of their training here especially private with limited or no outside experience in other states or they earned their private elsewhere and have numerous experience in the real world. Those that flown eleswhere are loaded with experience and are usually a better fit just because of that outside knowledge.

I'm waiting for the day UND will require us to flile VFR flight plans to the practice area. As stupid as it seems I see it as a real threat.

P.S UND is silently developing "anti authority" in students...the more they add/change the more they resist it, just ask classmates, interesting

For some reason that does not seem to far on the horizon to me

i understand what you are saying but over 1/2 the students at UND will be going straight to an airline

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! lololololol@@@!@!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

what alternate universe are you living in?? gimme some of that kool-aid!!:yup::yup:

my point being, as an adult, i should be *at least* allowed to make my own decisions about clothing, and deal with the consequences of those decisions.

What's the difference between this and the required spare set of glasses (since i require corrective lenses) as outlined by the airline FOM that I flew for?

Guys... most places that you're going to fly for professionally will require you to operate within their set of rules. Get used to it.

You will also see that UND has red thread compared to airline ops.

Haha ain't that the truth! :) You all have a lot more freedom than you think.

have no ability to think for yourself and develop real world flying skills

I disagree, and encourage you and your instructor to be creative with your lessons. It's all what you make of it. I did it as a student, and made sure I did as an instructor there. Don't limit yourself.

Yeah I know. Flow, flow, flow. . . . lol Its just sucky that I have to focus on that as opposed then whats going on outside which might help me more as a young pilot.

Guess I just need to perfect the flow though so I do not spend as much time on it.

Oh well who gives a damn, I am going to transfer closer to home and doing my training at an FBO after this semester probably anyways :rawk:

You know, if you spend some time chair flying these flows you'll waste less time (read: less money spent) doing them, and more time to devote to "looking outside". It's free, helps a lot, and I'm sure it's not a new concept to you.

I couldn't imagine having flown professionally without a flow of some kind. Take the time and develop it, and I promise flying will be more enjoyable when it becomes second nature.

Oh, puhleeze.....

wearing clothing that is not appropriate for climate/weather, will inconvenience, injure, or kill YOU.

not having backup vision devices if you contacts crap out in mid flight, with people behind you, will kill OTHER PEOPLE AND DESTROY OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY.

thats the difference.

you really don't think that over 1/2 the students that attend UND want to go the airlines? probably 70-80% of the current instructors will go to the airlines if/when they begin hiring again.

and the other reason i say that, think about the contract kids, they are being trained for an AIRLINE, there is around 300 of them now i think

you said WILL go. not WANT to go.

i WANT to make a bajillion dollars flying the concorde or sr-71... but instead i found a job banging a 172 around the sky.

realistically, these kids are going to have to find non airline jobs, so why not train them to be well rounded, real world pilots??? (contract students, yes, they are going to fly heavy metal.... scary.)

i am disagreeing with the training them ADM, and it is still possible, just have to be creative.

contract kids are 1/2 the flying, hence my point, 1/2 the kids @ und now, will leave directly for an airline.

While I see your point, at the end of the day, they're both rules in place to protect life.

You're (general you) going to have to follow the rules/procedures at your place of work. That's the point I was trying to make.

right but lets say i worked somewhere that had ridiculous policies....and i left the company and then posted on JC - "hey! this company has stupid policies!"... that would be normal and okay though, right?

if i found out about those ridiculous policies ahead of time, id then be able to make a decision that, hmm, maybe i dont wanna go work at a place with ridiculous policies and inept management...

makes sense right?
