The one place that really impressed me with their facility was Flight Safety in Vero Beach- they had a clean, modern dorm, a very shiny building and lots of pretty painted planes... which according to somebody I spoke with there were almost always done for squawks.. and DAYAMN were they expensive.

I actually went that route in 2002. I went in holding a PPL and since I was dragging my wife through the process, I wanted excellent access to aircraft and instructors so I could crank the training out at my pace (quickly). It worked well for me, but like you said it was silly expensive. I was already in my 30's and had some money to throw into it, so my loans were not bad and were paid off quickly. I don't fly now; it's all water under the bridge.

Back then the aircraft were pretty good. The singles were older, and while some had squawks, there was never an issue scheduling a plane. The Seminoles were all brand new, so no issues with the twins while I was there.

You can have tattoos from head to toe for all I care. If you're going to wear the uniform, wear it correctly and sharp. Not like you were picked for the ad because you were the only one that can steal a uniform out of of your dad's closet. "Why does dad have gold and silver wings? Must be one for each side. Psssht, I got this!"

I just don't understand who makes the final call on advertisements like this. We all know that there were probably at least two or three people at this school that looked at that finished ad before it was published and said "yep, that looks good!" .

Because who doesn't want to hire a pilot with a full sleeve tattoo, his shirt half untucked, his tie loose, and his top button unbuttoned. :sarcasm:

"Airline Quality Begins Here," my ass.

"Covered and not visible." (He'll be receiving a call from the Chief Pilot shortly.)

I noticed this ad the other day...I nearly spit out my coffee. What were they thinking?

I recently had a charter trip into DAB in the middle of the night and the night lineman for the FBO was working to become an instructor at Phoenix East. I felt sorry for him...why, just why?

Perhaps they don't know about this website and how much it can help in making better career decisions...
