Thinking about the Army Reserves

Just curious what it takes to be a warrant officer and fly helicopters in the Army Reserves. I've always had an interest in the military and really appreciate what they do for our country. Any chances of flying at my age? I'm 27 in good physical shape, no medical problems, perfect vision, 2yr college degree and 300 hrs of fixed wing time with Commercial Single Engine and Instrument Rating if that even helps any..Thanks

I'm not tech saavy enough, but there are a handful of threads in this section that detail the process. Have a search for Gaurd unit's as we'll. I know of a couple that are actively seeking pilots.

There are also a number of members here that are Army bubba's, whom fly.

My unit has a flight school slot we can't fill for August. Slot is for an E-5 or above who has completed WLC already.

Just finished WOCS last month through the "street to seat" program for active duty and I'm 27, so your age isn't an issue. I will tell you that all of the Guard and Reserve guys in our class had prior service. You might get lucky, but the general consensus was that their units had no interest in sending someone through WOFT off the street. It's still worth checking around though.

Check out the Apache unit in houston, he said they had some spots available.
They told me back in April that they were about to deploy and they have way too many WO1s and CW2s in the unit at this time! I was interested in the NG unit though, TX has a reserve unit as well, I haven't spoken with them.

Well check this out ca12_15, unless you are hoah hoah about blowing up and want an attack/recon track, consider 60s or 47s for sure. Why, these two airframes will go on your FAA license as valid ratings while the attack boys like me won't get anything. KY Reserve unit for AH-64s is also looking for qualified guys by the way, I have a classmate in that unit.

I was looking at the SLC Apache unit and was suprised they have only deployed one other time. I thought the guard/reserve were deploying more. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing. I know the hawk unit finshed there third.

Have you thought about active duty as an initial track? What is limiting your interest to the reserves?

They are not out of SLC but close ... West Jordan I think ... Now I have 2 friends in that unit, my roommate in WOCS and my stick buddy in the 64 course. This is their first deployment, but I know they have deployed before ... It's getting pretty competitive to get into that unit ... What are things in your resume you think it would land you a slot? I was also told to wait until the unit comes back but my case is different I'm already rated... If you deal with UTNG go straight to the officer recruiting.
