Thinking about going to Richmond.

Shawn* and yes, he's very much all business.
he's my instructor and he's very enthusiastic. much more so than Jeff, who was burned out and ready to quit instructing and leave for an airline by the time I started here.

so i'm grateful for Shawn's dedication... I like him a lot, he's very nice, knowledgeable, and he's motivated on getting his students done. can't say for certain that he will still be here when you start, but i'll let him know you'd like to be his student :)

Man, I am lucky to get home today. So we were boarding my first plane at richmond headed to chicago. And midway through we start unboarding. hydrolic leak. So after 15 min of waiting for their "quick fix", they take the plane to the hangar and the flight was cancelled.

So I wait for 15 min in line trying to get rebooked, really getting nowhere. So I left the B side of the terminal and went to the ticket counter(lugging ALL my luggage, carry on). The agent tries to rebook me on a later flight to Chicago to catch my 1:45 cst Chitown to Dtown leg. He then noticed my Chitown flight is canceled because of weather. So he tries some other options. Northwest direct to detroit is full so I get rebooked on US airways to Philly, then Philly to Detroit. So lucky I didnt goto chicago, else i'd be sitting in the terminal still.

Richmond to Philly is a nice flight, had a window seat to watch the coastline the whole ride. At Philly the weather is starting to cause delays and cancellations all over the US. Just as we are about to board, 2:10p, they come over saying there is a freezing rain in detroit. So I figure, sweet, a good chance to see the liberty bell. Well, the flight continues, so I ended up landing in Detroit roughly 3:55. I ended up checking in my duffel bag(all my clothes, headset, and car keys(Dont ask, I was kicking myself 10 min after I checked it in)). I waited for 30 min for the luggage to come out of the baggage claim, only later to find out that my duffel bag is sitting outside their "lost" luggage office 5ft from the outside door. Nobody watching it, just sitting there. It kind of irked me, but since I had my bags I am happy.

I live in Saginaw, Michigan(1 hr 30 min North of Detroit). So I get my car and start on my way. Its snowing, but Im used to the weather and figure no big deal. Well, I should have just stayed at my parents place 30 min away. The roads were terrible. For the 1st half of my roadtrip back, its a little icy, but everyone is driving 20mph, its like these folks have never seen snow before, WTF? Eventually I get on US 23, and it starts to speed up to 35 mph. Cruising now! Eventually I get in a good snow convoy, aka 4wd truck with big tires making a nice path for us little cars. Mind you there is about 6-8 inches of snow on the road and its still coming down. I somehow pissed off some college kids in an aerostar, one of them hangs half his body out the pass window to give me the finger and yelled at me, all while passing a semi about 3 ft from the kids head. I kindly waved back.

By the time I get 50 miles from home I am driving through 1-2ft snow drifts. Fun, but it got a little squeerly so I settled back down behind a semi and drove 35mph for the rest of the trip.

So, i left the airport at 3:55p, and got home at 9pm. Fun day, let me tell you, it should have taken me less than 2 hours. My wife said she would make it worth my while, but if you can tell I am here, then you know she fell asleep about an hour ago. :( Ive been shoveling about 2 feet of snow out of the driveway for the last hour, this sucks. Im tempted to give you a screenshot, I havent seen this much snow since I was 10 yrs old.

And I did ALL of this for a 6 min tour. lol. Im a humble guy, so im not getting worked up over it. Anyways, you all take it easy, and stay warm.
