Were you in a 4-G inverted dive?
Did you tell them you still make more money than them?
So naturally I open the window, give the one fingered salute, and call ground...
"St. Pete Ground - Cessna 52633 has a stuck parking break - will need a short delay to resolve it".
Murdoughnut never passes up a chance to put a d-bag in his place![]()
Snip snip SNAP!Did you tell them you still make more money than them?
I respect your opinion, but I just do things a bit differently. If anything, I'm guilty of not telling the story very accurately, and for that I apologize. Not going to apologize for my reaction to the guy, though. Sorry. Guess you just had to be there. Of course I'm also the same guy who knocked one of his grad school professors to the ground for calling me an idiot in front of my students - so maybe it's just a cultural difference.
I have the polaroid to prove it. :laff:
the single engine piston that hurries to beat us off the ramp then makes us wait an eternity for their runup, while we sit there wasting nearly 8 gallons a minute of JET A.You know I was just griping with a student the other day when I heard a couple of "last calls." What the hell is the point? Also, I don't care if you are taxing from the ramp at an uncontrolled field with one runway, one ramp, and one fbo...but thanks for telling me.
The whole "Last Call" thing is gaining speed fast. I hate to see it gaining popularity because it sounds so "cheesy." I did hear a guy the other day plead with the other to pilot that said "last call" to make one more! It made my student and I crack up!
What if they go-around? Does that mean that they fly their next pattern NORDO?
They don't use it in that situation. It is used when an uncontrolled airport is tight next airpace. So you may need to contact atc while still over airport property and if there are many planes in the pattern and/or oppsite direction inbound taffic, saying final call keeps themfrom holding up freq with
"abc123, where are you now? abc123? Hellooooooooooooo ABC123"
As i said, time and a place.
Just say how you are going to depart the pattern and then contact ATC if appropriate. This "last call" thing is amateurish and dumb, like taxiing around with your strobe lights on, but that's a whole other topic.
>Is it standard phraseology?
Is it standard phraseology?
You are talking to the inbound traffic trying to flind him, you get him but he still making calls looking for you and you wouldn't advise him you are no longer going to be on freq?
Because that is un-professional, not in a book, and killing the freq? How about some common courtesy. Brother give me a break.
